FASTNITRO Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 can any one explain the how to of flash bags?thanks
FrankRizzo Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 It depends on the size of the shell, but most people use 2 turns of 30# Kraft. One end of the tube is tied to the time fuse or spoolette, the flash charge dumped it, and the top closed with a clove hitch. A Kraft paper coin tube also works well. Usually, you'll want to design your flash bag such that it's in the center of your shell. Unlike spoolettes, time fuse is short (length) for a given delay, and you'll often have to extend the fire up to the bag using another small tube with a piece of blackmatch or tapematch inside. Some people also just use a small piece of cling wrap formed into a little container by placing a square of it on top of an "O" formed by the index finger and thumb of your hand, and pushing down in the center to form a little cavity with your other finger. The flash is then put inside and tied up with a clove hitch to form a little bubble of flash that can be set on top of your time fuse assembly. The rest of the space must be filled tightly with stars or burst so that the bag doesn't migrate.
Pyrohawk Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 It's exactly what it sounds like.... All it is is a small bag of burst placed in the center of an aerial shell. It's just a method of busrting your shell....keeps the burst from migrating also.
