swervedriver Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I wanted to share my experience with anyone who has the same dilemma as myself. I have been blaming my chems for "yellowed" colors, and all along it seems a big culprit was my tap water used for binding stars. Where I live the water is not only basic, but very "hard". The water table here flows through limestone. It has a ton of dissolved carbonates in it. It now seems elementary, I don't know why i didn't think of this sooner. Long story short, I started using distilled water and my colors are better now. Is your water source pure?
homebrewed77 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) You bet! I do alot of homebrewing aswell. So that's how i started useing it for pyro. But, i havent used distilled water yet, so far the store brand "spring water" work's pretty good. Believe me i know how it is to fight the hard water. Edited May 13, 2009 by homebrewed77
Mumbles Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I use distilled solely to cut my stars. Well, besides the various boric acid, gum arabic, and wheat paste solutions, which are also made of distilled usually. I also have to dilute my tap water to brew with it in many case. 5 or 6 gallons of spring water to 3 gallons of tap water has been becoming my standard. I have a similar type of water profile as swervedriver.
