im going to post here a list of materials. if u know about some material that had a use in pyro, please tell me, and say what is it used for

i have access all the materias, so thats why im asking

thx for answers and sorry for my english

FeTiO3

Sb203

Ca3(PO4)2

Na2B407 (this is borax if im not wrong)

Fe203 yellow (yellow iron oxide)

Na202CaO5B2O716H2O

CaSiO3

V205 (that is vanadium pentaoxide, dam i love this name)

ZrSiO4

Cr203

MgCO3

MnO2

NiO

SiC

Co3O4

CoCO3

thats it, and about vanadium and zirconium, any cool things to do exep in (if there is) pyro??

I believe MgCO3 is used to neutralize acid or something in compositions...

I broke it down item by item based on uses I know.

FeTiO3 - none, but potential whistle catalyst

Sb203 - none, kind of poisonous too. Known not to work in glitters

Ca3(PO4)2 - Fertilizing your garden. Can be used to make white phosphorus, but I won't go further into that.

Na2B407 (this is borax if im not wrong) - Yes, that's borax. I can be used to waterproof paper and tubes I think. It can be used to make boric acid too.

Fe203 yellow (yellow iron oxide) - Probably can be used where more conventional red and black iron oxides. However, you have misnamed it. It's actually a hydrated oxy-hydroxide. The hydrates could prove to be detrimental. Also, never use it for thermites.

Na202CaO5B2O716H2O - no idea what this is.

CaSiO3 - not sure. It's the final product in a fireproofing treatment of mortars, but I don't think it can be used as is.

V205 (that is vanadium pentaoxide, dam i love this name) - A whistle and strobe catalyst. It's also used as a catalyst for conversion of SO2 into SO3, but thats more chemistry than pyro. It's a useful catalyst for other chemistry things too.

ZrSiO4 - Can be used as a glitter delay agent.

Back in the middle 90's I read of a glitter formula, in the WPA

newsletter, that I found different from those I had been familiar with.

The formula is as follows

%

Meal Powder 65

Sb2S3 10

Mag/Al 50/50, 60 mesh 10

Dextrin 05

Sulfur 05

Zircopax(ZrSiO4) 05

(I have also successfully substituted Zinc Zirconium Silicate{ZnZrSiO5}

for the Zircopax)

These can either be rolled or cut for stars, Besides the usual

glitter effect you also get the "crackle" from the Mag/Al.

Cr203 - Whistle and strobe catalyst. Can be converted into dichromate for Mg treatment, or additional stobe/whistle catalysis.

MgCO3 - Glitter delay agent

MnO2 - Used in some exotic strobes, colored smokes, and whistle catalyst.

NiO - No known use, but I'd avoid it due to potential carbonyl nickel(poisonous).

SiC - No known use. Rather abrasive, so perhaps for friction ignitors.

Co3O4 - No known use. Whistle catalyst?

CoCO3 - No known use. Whistle catalyst?
