Due to certain event involving the authorities (no it isnt what you think they didnt look for anything but my name is on a list) t

I know the story Ralph told me on msn.

"One of his neighbors rang the police cause they heard a large noise coming Ralphs house (fountain to report).

The police then came into Ralphs house and took down his details."

Im trying to convince Ralph that the Police dont have anything. They take lots of peoples details down, I have a friend that had his details taken down for yelling "1 nill, 1 nill!" at opposition supporters at an A-League match (Adelaide vs Queensland, Semi-final, for any Aussie soccer fans).

It really isn't that big of a deal.

What would anyone do in his situation? to give him some perspective, on how tiny and insignificant it is.

I advised Ralph to continue making stuff, but to drive to beaches to light stuff, and that if he is worried about having his house raided for things he didnt do e.g someone lights a sparkler bomb. He should just hide his stars/burst inside ice cream containers underground or find a suitable place that police will not look.

LEOs all round the world do trawl the www for "interesting" posts, sites and people. Everyone's house is on a list (or a hundred) somewhere.

Actually they cannot find all the makers of devices but they can find all the people who annoy the neighbours.

Damn, that's a bit rough, but I think you will be OK.

Lay low for a while, don't do so much as test a star around your house, find a good shooting site a couple of km away from your neighbours and in 6 months it will be forgotten.

Did you tell them it was homemade? Anyone who is with me when I'm letting anything off is told that the story is "My mate picked up a couple of rockets/fountains/shells/whatever overseas and we just set off the last one".

I think the chances of being raided are practically zero. Getting some sort of warning/fine if the neighbours complain again is a possibility though.

i have been considewring leaving since before i joined apc (my reception didnt really encorage me but anyway (spelling and gramer) ) but i am doing year 12 and am realy bussy right now and dont have much time for pyro though it always manages to get preference over homework. also the costs were getting higher (as i moved on to nicer chems some went down some went up). and the final thing that made me give up (just as my perc is going to arive) was the police

If you wanna quit for any reason that you have, feel free to do so Ralph. If you decide to quit because of the cops visiting I think it's a shame that you're driving yourself crazy over that. The cops don't have a shit on you, cops will always write down details and 9 out of 10 times they won't even file it in the computer anymore.

well pyro is great as you all know but it costs money and truthfully it has been interupting with my homework and my grades have suffered and this just pushed me over the line

I've had the coppers take my details down once for letting off commercial firecrackers, nothing happened

Dont do it again, piss off :)

I believe that is the definition of a "hobby".

^^^^^ DING DING DING

Moderation is the key. I'm not a good role model for moderation, but I understand the concept. ANY hobby can do this. If a hobby becomes overly intrusive, then definitely scale it back, but there's usually no need to entirely quit.

Whatever you do, best of luck. You'll eventually be back! :D I started as a Kewl, then a more responsible adult. Kids, marriage, and a hiatus of 20 years. But it was always in the back of my mind, and I was sucked right back in now that I have some time.

These are signs that you are in to pyro over your head (or doing drugs, same symptoms).

* Increased activity

* Decreased sociability

* Decreased desire for sleep or rest

* Excitement or "hyper" behavior

* Decreased hunger

* Impulsive decisions

* Risky or impulsive choices

* Refusing to say where they've been or what they've been doing, or lying about it.

* Missing important meetings or failing to show up for social occasions.

* Forgetting important dates or events.

* Becoming angry without a good cause.

* Acting defensive.

* Neglecting old friends and family to spend time with other pyros

Sucks dude... but, "Due to certain event involving the authorities (no it isnt what you think they didnt look for anything but my name is on a list) thankyou for having me here i have enjoyed this wonderful resource." is not a complete thought. ;)

I wouldn't worry if I was you, eventually, you'll move. Don't consider yourself done, just take this time to go on a learning hiatus. Read some, and gather more knowledge, so when you do get the chance, you come back better than ever. Good luck, and remember; you smelt the smoke, don't think your gonna let it go so easy.;)
