asilentbob Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 For the hundredth time Jeff Hunter runs the site and he doesn't give a shit about the text files. We have tried many many times to get them removed, no dice. The BB forum is moderated. It just doesn't have sub-pyro/chem/etc forums inside it... It gets plenty of threads started by retards passing though. As does APC if you haven't noticed. It is a public forum, like APC. You just have to look past the crap threads at TotseBB just like with any other forum (ie APC, SMDB, RS, etc). And if i wasn't clear enough, when i talk of TotseBB i ONLY talk of TotseBB. Yes, the rest of the site (Totse + files) sucks.
Pretty green flame Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Everyone, i need some help right now. My chem supplier just got something interesting in. It's calledcereclor 42 C22-C30 klorirani parafini, 42%. In english it would sound like this: Chlorated parrafin, would this be the same stuff as chlorowax??? Please, i need some advice before i set out to buy a shitload of the stuff. Cheers.
jacob Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Well chlorowax is said to have about 30-70% Chlorine so that is most likely the same stuff.
XinE895 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Yup, I'm happy, I have a show on the 7th for my whole family and some friends. I'll have a video, which I'll post, I'll try to remember to get pictures of the setup. This is what I got for the show. 2 - 24 WC Excalibur Canister Shells2 - 10 WC Critical Acclaim Canister Mines2 Brothers Blond Joke 500g Cake4 Brothers Bling Bling 200g Cake4 BC Atom Splitter1 String 5000 Celebration Crackers2 Vulcan Color Wheels2 Ground Spinning Fountains Im using my 3 - 12 shot racks, about 10 single shot tubes, A 8-que fireing board, about 500ft wire, Nichrome E-matches, and I'm ending the show with 3 Ti Salutes. I'v been looking for xcals for a while and I finally found a place that has them about 2 hours away so I took a nice road trip this morning. I found out how much the firework stores suck in my area, I'm deffentally returning there again. I cant wait to fire this show, should be the best show I have ever shot with such good shells and cakes.
aquaman Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Wow there's alot of reading on this page... Anyways I just went to Indiana for some fireworks and it totaled to $120. I was speachless. I'm so used to making my own for nearly nothing except time, that I forgot how expensive it was. I only got about a bag and a half worth of stuff. Next year I probably going all out just so I can save money... Have a safe 4th everyone.
Tweetybird88 Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Now this is pretty random, even for this thread. I have many pounds of kno3. I also have many tree stumps in my back yard. can I throw a bunch of the nitrate around the stumps to get rid of them? Or do the stump removers have other chemicals in them?
TheSidewinder Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 One way to do this is to drill a number of 1 to2 inch diameter holes in the stump top, then just pour the KNO3 in to fill the holes, cover with something (plastic tarp?) so rain doesnt just wash it all out. The KNO3 kills the tree. It takes a while, though, and the treatment may need to be repeated (just refill the holes). When I was a kid, Dad did this to a stump in the back yard. The tree was dead the next year, and within 2 years had rotted somewhat. He dug the remains out with an axe and shovel. Still a lot of work, though. M
h0lx Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 or you can let the rain soak the tree with KNO3 and then just light it.
pudidotdk Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Look at this comic I did back when I was around 8 years old or so:http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/2338/pudinytaarww9.jpg At picture 13.... A crossette rocket !!Also the main characters name is Pudi... Oh and btw "Slut" on Danish means "The end," thanks for asking!
crazyboy25 Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 i have a question i know chemicals are always measured by weight but what about liquids for example when thinning NC lacquer with acetone or diluting rubbing alcohol with water do you generally measure by weight or volume?
asilentbob Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Pumped around 500 3/8" TT stars last night/morning... I have more to go... then larger sizes... But first i need to make more dextrin and go to my job. I doubt ill have anything ready on the 4th aside from old stuff.
Swany Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 i have a question i know chemicals are always measured by weight but what about liquids for example when thinning NC lacquer with acetone or diluting rubbing alcohol with water do you generally measure by weight or volume? Well, depends... the big shiny happy rule of science is always give units, those should tell you. I've used both. In a synthesis last week I measured triflic anhydride in mLs and my product (2,6 dibromo 4-(methyloxyhexyl) pyridine) in grams. Both were liquids. Getting exited for the 4th.
crazyboy25 Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 well im specifically referring to thinning NC lacquer and rubbing alcohol solvent neither of which usually give units.
tentacles Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 Everyone, i need some help right now. Cheers. Firefox lists it this way: Chlorowax - chlorinated paraffin, chlorine donor - Stock #C132AUse in powder form or it can be dissolved or melted for use.
crazyboy25 Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 i was wondering i have seen go-getters and crossettes both of which are elongated and tube-like is it possible for either of these to fit in a round aerial shell?
pudidotdk Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 I have seen crossettes in round shells, however not go-getters. I see no reason why they can't be used in cylindrical, however if I had a choice I'd stick with cylindrical since it's much easier to stack the inserts.
Swany Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 http://www.apcforum.net/files/Ni-complex.JPG Brand spankin' new, never before made! Isolating it as we speak.
Tweetybird88 Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 http://www.apcforum.net/files/Ni-complex.JPG Brand spankin' new, never before made! Isolating it as we speak. What does that mean?
Swany Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I'm working in a university o-chem lab, its my project. Synthesing (paranoia, followed RC's advice, too late to see!). Today I'm going to be going home for the 4th though...
h0lx Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 And what are you making that compound for? Any ideas for use or just for having made something never made before? Is it your university work or something? EDIT: you beat me to it.
jacob Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 HAPPY JULY 4th . (yes, i was the first one to say it, ha ha).
DeAdFX Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Ahh god damn it I just had my first whistle mix blow up on me. It was loud as hell too good thing me/audience wasn't hurt.
Rogue Chemist Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Wow, working in a uni lab, congrats, I thought you were rather young?Tsk Tsk, posting unpublished work on the internet, I know someone who got screwed out of a JACS publication for that reason I'd post my babies, but they are patentable Some sort of songogashira type polymerization here I assume? I bet the polymers look cool under UV light with all the conjugation.
h0lx Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Muahahaha... don't even think of not getting cheering 'n' stuff on estonias independence days, which are 20. august and 24. february:P Anyways, hope you yankees had lots of fireworks and I hope to see videos.
Tweetybird88 Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 My fourth is ruined. RAIN RAIN RAIN. Happy 5th of July to me!
