Ammonium perchlorate, antimony trisulfide, lampblack, MgAl -200mesh, Mg sweepings, Zn powder, -10+20 Ti flake, 3/4" rocket tubes, rocket tooling litterature, AND I forgot to enter potassium dichromate when i placed the order and now that i realize it im a bit pissed at myself. I NEED Kdichromate for coating Mg and a few organic reactions ive been dying to try... Then i got $40... probably going to buy 24 to 48 12oz empty beer bottles, caps, and a capper... possibly tomorrow... so its all good. I can get Cr2O3 or FeCrO3 at a local ceramics store though, so i guess i can go that way and make K2Cr2O3 from it. Though im not sure how i would go from iron chromate... Would have to check solubilitys and such. If it comes to it ill get the chromium oxide... and black copper oxide as im running out. I need to cook and mill more charcoal, then clean out the mill and mill a bunch of potassium nitrate, then mill some BP for priming, make a bunch of stars and maybe try making a couple comets, find out if this guy will make me some tooling, and go party a bit. I'll fill you in on the full story after the interview next week. It's a long story. A raid occured yesterday morning at my friend's house for an unrelated tip-off. My equipment was being stored at his place. You can guess the rest. My name was never mentioned because they didn't ask questions. My friend will ring the investigator on Monday and inform him of me and I'll go to the interview with him. I turn 18 in a month (legal adult here) so I'm lucky this happened while I'm still a minor. Funny how sick things like this can make you feel, and how unreal it seems... The investigator said the worst that can happen is a severe warning (and that's including the other things of his they got, which were also fairly serious). They sent everything away for analysis. They took over 20kg of stars they called "black beads" on their list. So much work and money...They also labelled the pvc pipe with end caps I use for holding blackmatch so it doesn't get bent an "assembled pipe bomb." Oh, and a 1.25L bottle full of "clear liquid." It was my friend's water bottle. Pretty funny... Everything will be okay. I'm going to tell the truth. My friend said they were all nice friendly people, easy to talk to and they said they aren't out to ruin our lives. It also won't affect my friend joining a military force. Mardec Posted March 11, 2007 Share Posted March 11, 2007 I just made 70/30 KClO4/German Dark for the first time in my life and I am so Happy/Impressed For all the test I did today with it I used 1 gram of it in total. 0,2 gram just in a piece of duck tape, sharp bang. 0,5 gram in the open lit by paper/kno3 fuse. Nice flash, not much sound but a very deep BOOM effect could be heard, difficult to discribe, it was very silent but still you could very well hear the Boom. Almost like the sound came from my chest.. strange A couple of 0,0X gram on a spatula just to get a feeling of it. Had the same properties of KIO4/P (yes periodate). A deep POOF and pushed the spatula down. And the finale probably less then 0,1 gram in a small casting wich was spicked with some rope and stuff. Anywho an idea came to me while I was playing soccer. I was thinking of making areial shells out of paper mache(sp) and using a sports ball as the mold. Sports balls come in all shapes and sizes ranging from golfball/pingpong ball to basketball size. I think it would be a little more conveient to probably buy your own shells but for the purposes of otc ness this could prove to be an interesting idea. Nothing will come of the 30kg+ of explosives and 4 unregistered guns sitting in my friend's room, as odd as it sounds...Not bad considering the new severe anti-terrorism laws we've got in Australia. The raid was due to my friend's parents growing weed. They said sorry...TWICE. Just makes everything better, doesn't it? It must have looked pretty bad. They raided this house in the bush for drugs and found guns and explosives as well. Me and my friend have never done any drugs except alcohol just so you know. I didn't know his parents were pot heads, and my friend was always fighting with them to stop. If I knew I wouldn't have left my stuff out there... But nothing is happening. At the unofficial informal interview on the side of the highway at my friend's turn-off (cough cough, a bit odd) with me, my parents and my friend and his, they didn't even know my family's last name. He was expecting to make a deal with friend. Swap the name of the supplier of the fireworks in return for lenience. When I was there and he realised it was mine and I actually made everything from scratch he didn't care. He dropped it completely and moved on to the guns. He still tried get some information about drug dealers or something at school out of my friend, but we don't know any people, hahaha. So he said he'd make up a story to satisfy the court. Two days later we get news everything has been dropped. It really softens the charges up on his parents too. Growing weed isn't too bad compared to growing weed with bulk explosives and unregistered military weapons in your house... But I won't be doing pyro any more and I'll have to stay out of trouble. And just so you know, the penalty for explosives if you had as much as I did, and if they can prove intent, is a mere 10 year jail sentence. The lightest penalty without intent is 2 years. No one knows about what happened and we hope to keep it that way. If this got out in THIS town, our families would be fucked. My mum kept hugging me, hahaha. I'm going to probably get 2 or 3 because these general purpose -10 to 110C are pretty useless when you want to be distilling things with higher boiling points or maintain on oil bath at a higher temperature. Frankly metal ones and -10 to 110C spirit ones are the only ones i have been able to find OTC. Post Apple ScientificGo Lab equipment > Thermometers > General Lab Thermometers > Mercury Filled Correction, they have:-20 to 110C-20 to 150C-10 to 260CThey also have specialty thermometers, but they are wayyyy expensive. As you can guess I don't want nitrile/pvc fused to my hand No, nitrile has poor chemical resistance to DCM as do almost any other type of commonly acquired gloves. PVA is the only acceptable material and may cost upwards of $30 for a pair. I might suggest using MEK instead, as you can use butyl rubber gloves to handle mixes containing that solvent.
