50caliber
I thought its not very safe, and its even less safe with a very high mesh?
rocket
It only not safe if you mill metals for a long period of time and not let the metal oxidize. If you open the milling jar every couple of hours you’ll be fine.
50caliber
Yea that sounds better, i think you open the mill every 2 hours or so

qwezxc12
4 hours until the mail comes... COMON cannonfuse order please be here.I feel your pain...well, I did...until my order finally came Fuse, tubes, 2" - 3" - 4" spherical shells & 2" - 3" cannisters. If I had been smarter, I would have split the order so the shells came faster - including the fuse in the same box really slows shipping down. Now I need to replenish my depleated rice crispy supply...I just wish I weren't going out of town for a week. I want to build something!
pa_pyro
If I run out of visco I have an extra 20 feet of blackmatch lying around to last me for a little while. Skylighter is getting a little annoying with their new policies...only 1 lb. of KNO3 per order! Imagine the shipping costs if you used them as a supplier for your average pyro needs. Their KNO3 is a little pricey to begin with.(compared to pottery supply, 18$ which includes shipping for 10 lbs.)

DeAdFX
FUCKKK!!!!!! no fuse. God damn son of a bitch. I was hoping it would come in before my christmas break was over. If it isn't here by friday I will be pissed off.
hst45
DeAdFX, that sucks. Nothing worse than waiting and hoping that you're not the last guy standing on the dock when the boat sails. My hope is that this recent shortage of goodies is a panic-buying spree fuel by the CPSC crap, and will be nothing more than a small delay in supply. I'm a gun guy, and I remember back in the dark days of the Clinton infestation when the fat-boy-pervert floated an idea to limit reloading supplies. The obvious target was primers. The suppy of primers was snatched up faster than an asteroid being sucked into a black hole. Calmer heads prevailed (thank you NRA) and the supply returned. Hopefully we will have the same result, but in the long run I'm affraid we're on thin ice. Nancy Pelosi stated in her introductory speech that this Congress will be doing everything "for the children." Translation...."WE know what's best, and we'll take away anything that's "bad." YOU can't be trusted." Sorry for the political diatribe, but I lament the loss of personal freedoms. Wasn't it Churchill that said that if a people was willing to sacrafice freedom for security it was destined to have neither?
Mumbles
I thought it was Benjamin Franklin who said that. Churchill may also have said something like that. "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

asilentbob
On the cannonfuse note, i just got my shipment a couple days ago. 300ft of one fuse, 100ft of another, 3", 4", and 6" spherical plastic hemis. So beautiful. I still gotta decide on a firefox order and if im getting 1/2" or 3/4" tooling from pyrotooling. I have been in a very "experimental" kind of mood. itwasntme
In this topic of the old forum, http://www.xsorbit2.com/users/apcforum/ind...&num=1079636035How did he get the black match on the coil? If he did it while wet, why didn't it stick to the coil, and how does the blackmatch closer to the coil dry? I REALLY want to make one of these machines, just need that one question answered. Thanks. Mumbles
To tell you the truth, I haven't the foggiest idea. My BM is always way too stiff to roll into coils when dry. When wet, they would stick together. He doesn't use a rubbery or elastic binder either. It's probably just the string. It's so fluffy, the BP penetrates easily, and isn't broken off as much by bending as with more dense string I make with. I would say that it is rolled on dry. ewest
well he does say this:The string I use is 100% cotton. I bought a large spool of it at Walmart for about $.88. It is used for knitting and what not. It is about 2mm in dia., but it gets thinner as you pull on it, so it is ductile. Sounds like it's not so much string as it is yarn, which like mumbles said is really fluffy stuff. On a side note, I've bought some of that superfast firecracker fuse that skylighter sells and it's a great alternative to blackmatch. I also started buying Goex a lot and now the only time I have to make my own BP is when I need some meal-d for priming or rockets motors (which I almost never do now). I haven't touched my ball mill in months. I know it's more expensive that way but it sure cuts down on time, which is my main problem. Plus I'd rather be rolling stars than be coated in charcoal......I do miss the black boogers though.

hst45
Mumbles, for blackmatch try using carpet warp as a core. It's a very thin pure cotton wound string, actually just slightly more than a thread. When dry, the strands can be coiled tightly without a problem. Hell, I can wrap a strand around my finger and when uncoiled it will still burn reliabily at about 1" per second. A small bit of BP coating will crack off when coiling, but it still burns reliably. Great stuff.
asilentbob
I got a coleman butane jet lighter ($12), industrial hot glue gun (sale at harbor freight tools... $2!!!), glue sticks ($4), soil pH meter ($5) (don't know if it works well with aqueous solutions, but i do a bit of gardening, so its all good if it doesn't), a chemistry review booklet ($5) because im going to try to test out of general college chemistry because i took AP in highschool but missed the AP test date, and an old organic chemisty text book ($10)... its "Organic Chemistry" by Ralph J. Fessenden & Joan S. Fessenden (1979 i think)...
DeAdFX
Hmmm.. I am trying to start up a rocketry club at my school(college). I hope I can have some fun with it in this highly regulated world. Launching some basic rockets (nothing fancy like in the rocketry competition section here) would kick ass.
ewest
I would think you could. Heck if Cub Scouts can launch their Estes rockets, I would sure think a college would let you start a rocketry club.

When will the draw be for the competions, because it was ment to close by new years day but it has run over considerably.Just wondering as it would be quite intersting to see who wins in each section.
