For anyone who might still be interested in a bulk order, I need more people. It would be from firefox as Harry is annoying/firefox is my main supplier. Even if they win, it would still be nice to have a lifetime supply of oxidizers, am I right ^_^

thank you mumbles, diane gary are both hardcore pyros (i think) and i am sure that they will look out for our best interests, meaning more than one pound of ox. per year, i think harry was just trying to scare up sales. man, doesn't the cpsc take a brake on christmas, after this is over we should thank them somehow. MERRY CHRISTMAS :D

Today I recieved some various chemicals... Antimony trisulfide being one of them. Anywho I love burning this stuff as it has that "firework" smell that I remember back in my wee little days of burning consumer fireworks.

While I am on the topic, I suggest everyone subscribe to PML. It is generally a good source of info.

Mumbles, thanks for the reminder. I've been meaning to join for a long time now but keep putting it off. I just joined though and waiting for my review to be approved.

Merry Christmas everyone. And for New Years, may all your rockets fly true and your finger burns be small :P

Will someone post the link where to sign up? I've never pursued PML so I dont know where to start. ;)

Thanks.

For anyone who cares about making "unique or exotic blue" compistions....

Today I tested a blue formulation based off of a complex of Cupric Sulfate/Nitrate Triethanol amine. I used AMmonium Perchlorate as the oxidizer and hexamine as a secondary source of fuel. Just using Ammonium Perchlorate and the copper complex results in a compistion that is a real pain in the ass to ignite. The hexamine helps sensitize the mixture to flame. I think I will do a little more experimenting with this compisition before I post it in the comp section.

Merry Christmas to all. i'm doing a small backyard show for the family tonight. Just some 2" and 2-1/2" shells, 1/2" rockets, and a couple of fountains, but the kids enjoy it. My Christmas list includes an 8000 lb press, a new 2 lb. ball mill, a 55 gallon drum of perc., a 1000' spool of visco, and the dismissal of the CPSC suit.... I'm sure that I'll just get a crappy tie and a stuffed singing fish instead.

I would be a bit worried about mixing that complex with Ammonium Perchlorate unless it is not water bound. The ammonium ligand is harder than the TEA ligand, so it will replace it. Tetraaminecopper (II) nitrate or perchlorate is not something I would want to have around. Copper sulfate is also mildly acidic, which could cause problems with certain compounds. In combonation with the TEA it could be rather basic, also causing problems.

hts45, I hope you do get your list for Christmas!!! Give the crappy tie and singing fish to the govt. lawyers, although they don't even deserve that. Merry Christmas all, take care and be safe. -vongeetch-

When making hummers which is preferred, a fast fuel or a slow fuel also do the size of the hummer have any effect of the sound?

I’ve used what I would call fast BP but it seemed to be more of a scream than a humming.

Is it me or is this normal when making stars. Whenever I use to much solvent for a binder (guar/xantha gum + water/EtOH in this case) my stars seem to preform worse than when I use enough solvent to make a crumbely star. I let the excess solvent batches dry out for longer too. Bah maybe I need to be more patient :(

Depending on the effect, overwetting can damage or even kill the effect you are after, especially glitters. Some of the best stars I have had tho, seemed the most crumbly just after pressing, bound with red gum & alcohol. They are delicate for a couple of days, but the end result is rock hard, clean burning stars. Patience is a virtue in pyro when it comes to drying your stars.

Over wetting can also cause KNO3/other solubles to leech out which can make the stars preform worse due to inconsistant composition. Some parts might have 60% KNO3, while others may only have 45%.

Hmm.. Thanks for the explanation. Anywho I had more success with some fountains that I made and showed off to friends/family. I wish I had more fuse so I could make some starmines for new years. I guess thats what happens when you plan ahead and order fuse at the very end of the month .

what's so creepy and graphic about it? The man holding the camera was either really drunk or holding a camera for the first time, They didn't even show the hanging just the before and aftermath..

No, theres nothing graphic about it really, just think about how you would feel, or what would be going through your mind if you knew you would be dead, gone forever within seconds. Thats what I mean.
