DeAdFX Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 1. College kicks ass....2. Rice candy is the best god damn thing ever.3. I need to find a cheap bulk seller of rice candy. $16 for a pound of rice candy is horse shit.
justanotherpyro Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 I think I may have to try this "rice" candy......and yes college does indeed kickass.
_DB_ Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 I was planning on my Halloween being a nice quiet evening at home, but a friend called and about ten of us went out. We ran amok doing all the immature things I've yet to do in my life on the holiday, such as TP-ing, shaving creaming, and egging. Before it was all said and done I ended up slipping and falling ass first into a mud puddle and it was freezing outside. It was a fun night I suppose. Immature, yes, but better then sitting at home.
Chemguy Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Will I thought I would post these pictures because I think they look good, their picture of Mg burning which is semi pyro. Enjoy http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k300/ber0006/P1050685.jpg http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k300/ber0006/P1050697.jpg Hey, these are cool pictures. How much Mg was this?
rocket Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 It was only a gram of Mg, I zoomed in on it and cropped the picture that’s why it looks like a large amount.
BigBang Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I sat at home and shoed off the kiddies (evil I know.) I love the winter season. I will be doing more pyro related activities now that it's cooling off, and getting darker faster. To the snow people here, I wish we had snow. As I'm typing it is about 80 degrees F
Mardec Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Damn, 1st novemver brought snow:( Only good things about snow are free icebaths and throwing snowballs at my friend's window(an old tradition) Fucking where do you live? The artic? I is fucking cold here, but Sow is somethink I surely won't see for another month or even more. But is very cold here and since I do all my pyro in my pyro caravan, which has no power. It is fucking cold out there! So I am trying to make everything for newyear done as fast as possible. Btw how are you guys progressing for newyear?
h0lx Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 We also tought halloween will be quiet and peaceful, but my friend called, we bouth us 500ml spirit, which made about 1,25l vodka, so I was pretty fucked up instead.
h0lx Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Does anyone have some setup drawings on how to electrolyse molten Cesium Chloride? I have a cheap source for it now and I would buy it if I could extract cesium from it.
maximusg Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Snow and pyro would be interesting. Unfortunately thats not the case down here. coming in to summer here. last year it got up to 49c..... damn fire risk doesn't allow for much fun. but thank god its easy enough to check for spot fires at night. no more day time rocket firings though.. for a couple of months
DeAdFX Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 If I wanted to replace a metal oxide(MeO) catalyst for a rocket(increasing burn rate) with a different metal compound(MeC) how would one calculate the amount need for subsitution? I was thinking that you calculate how much metal each compound contains. For example upon decompisition 1 mol of MeO produces .5mols of Metal and .5 mols of oxygen while 1 mol of MeC produces .25 mols of Metal and .75 mols of other stuff. With that in mind is it safe to assume that you would need twice as much MeC as you would MeO in order to acheive a similar increase in burn rate?
Mumbles Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Just use 2-3% reguardless. Don't worry about moles and all that. Either chemical will have it's own unique catalytic effect. Adding an equimolar amount will result in 2 different burn rates.
BigBang Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Remember remember the fifth of NovemberThe gunpowder treason, plot.I see no reason why the gunpowder treason,Should ever be forgot. Hope I typed it right Today proved fun, though it didn't involve pyro. I had a VIP tour of Cape Canaveral, getting to see the old mercury and gemini pads. Even saw the SRB hangar, getting to take home some of the ablative coating off and SRB they had there. When we went to the Mercury-Atlas bunker, where they contralloed said flights, I found the escape tunnel, which I opened and climbed through. That was fun. Later, we went to a sealed silo, a barren place with no marker, and nothing around. The challenger, or whats left, is in there, kinda touched me.
rocket Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Would 300mesh iron atomized be any good for fountain, star extra? I have feeling that it may be too fine for any use.
maximusg Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I think if its atomized it should be alright for stars and such. only one way to see though
Chemguy Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 If iron is atomised it is extremely hard to light, and does't burn very well, if at all. I know this from experience. But it might make sparks which a assume you want to do.
rocket Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Skylighter has 300-325mesh iron which is granular so atomized should be ok. All I want it for is sparks really.
Mephistos Minion Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Eh, granular has more sharp points on it for much easier ignition when compared with spherical.
ewest Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Mephistos Minion, I can't be the only one wondering this, but exactly what IS your avatar a picture of? At first it looks like a pile of poo, but then I think it might be a dog curled up sleeping or possibly a ferret. I could even be convinced it's a duck billed platypus Just wondering......
rocket Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Lol, platypuses are the second most favorite pet here in Australia they just love cat food. J/k
maximusg Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 yeah, and first being the mysterious kangawallafox.
Mardec Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 God I don't even know how to start. I lost a friend and my future brother in law today. I was in my lesson organical chemistry and my father came to get me and told me the news. Both died in the same car in a car crash. A school bus that was probably speeding rammed them in the side and my buddy the driver died instantly. My future brother in law and also a good friend died 1 hour later. He was never concious (I don't know how to spell) after the crash. I just saw him and I still can't believe it. I am not even going to discribe it. I have such difficulty with it, but I can't even imagine what my sister is going through. She is 17 and he was 20. The other friend was 19. A sad day..
styropyro Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Hey man I am very sorry about the loss. I know how it feels to lose someone you love. Its just so hard to believe how fast things can change. I also feel for your sister, I coudn't fathom what it would be like to lose the person you were going to marry. Once again I am real sorry, I hope things get better soon.
Mephistos Minion Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 On my island there will be no cars. That is all I have to say a bout them. My avitar is one of my cats curled up in a ball.
Chemguy Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 I'm sorry for you mardec, I haven't really lost someone I love, but my cat got killed by a car 7 years ago. My friend was in a car crash a year ago, He was in a coma for a week, but he lived. So I know how you feel. It's almost unreal and it doesn't sink in for a few days. Hope things get better fast.
