optimus
Has anyone heard from XinE895 recently? I stupidly paypalled the guy $60 last year for some goods. Since then he's messaged be excuse after excuse as to why he's delaying postage, and I've now realised he has no intention of sending me anything! optimus
That would be great Mumbles - thanks. Don't want to sound like an arse, but I don't think I'm being unreasonable - he's had my money since Dec 05! _DB_.... cool idea, I'll try to get round to implementing it soon : ) Givat... I'll have to check my records for the exact comp, but they're Red gum bound, AP/KP violet stars. You're right, they do look like dirt stars in the pic, but they're smooth looking to the naked eye. Pyrohawk
Ya _DB_ we have that sometimes on my highschool chem class. It's fun to show pictures and try to have people guess what they are. I like to look at fireworks (in action or not), compositions, stars, etc.a dn try an dguess whta it is. I might add sadly......as I write this I realized that I have taken all the chem classes my school offers. . So I have a whole year left with no chemistry.....Wow and I want to major in chemistry in college..... That can't be good to miss a whole year of it before college!! I won't remember half the stuff!!! shoot.....
DeAdFX
You can spend another year in chemistry, just ask your chemistry teacher if he/she will let you aid for the class. Chances are your chem teacher will just have you do slave work but it's better than no chemistry.
justanotherpyro
I've missed a whole year of chemistry right before college. I hope it doesn't mess me over too bad. On a side note, I fucking hate mosquitoes. Them and wasps are from the pits of hell.
TheSidewinder
Pyrohawk, Check with your School's "Career Councellors" or whatever they're called these days. Your school might be partnered with a Tech College, or Community College, and will allow you to take a college-level Chem course for your Senior year. This was offered at my High School (many, many, moons ago). The credits transferred, too. Worth looking at, if you're serious about a career in Chemistry. M
ADP9
Bought some extention tubes for my camera recently, and have been getting 'up close and personal' with various things: Mmmmm... beer Some polverone Some 1/2" starsLooks like I need to ballmill my chems a little more - look at the chunks! Purple fireThis is a tiny 2mm grain of the above stars burning. Check out the crazy bubbles forming on the surface... Next project will be capturing some glitter spritzels and branching iron sparks in detail... Any other ideas for other things to zoom in on?I like the pics, you should make some various one like visco, BP, various pyrotechnical things that people could use as desktop backgrounds. Great quality tho

optimus
Thought y'all might like to see some more pyro photos. There are a select few of my favourites from my latest shoot, which was a pyromusical display in the grounds of Warwick castle. The music was provided by the BBC concert orchestra, and the pyro by Dragonfire. Notice the arch lighting rig suspended by a crane with all kinds of pyro strapped to it - ingenious! http://www.apcforum.net/files/Warwick.zip.avi You'll have to strip the .avi extention, then unzip the file to view them - I hope it's OK to use the filehost like this...  Weknowpyro, my camera setup (the stuff I use for fireworks anyways) is: Canon 350XT (camera body) Lenses: Canon 17-40L (for wide shots)Canon 70-200L (closeups)Canon 50mm prime with Kenko extention tubes (for super-macro work) - still figuring out how to use these... Manfrotto 055B Pro tripod with medium ball-head, remote shutter release cable, and finally a 5-ton bottle jack in a camera bag suspended beneath the tripod for extra ballast! And no - it aint cheap : ) EDIT: forgot to add the photo of a 2" (I think) fountain CATO. This one gave the crowd a fright , was bloody loud : )

Swany
Congradulations, new computers are one of the joys of life, but one question: Pentium!?!!? I built mine myself about a year ago now. Don't remeber what type of mobo I put in as I don't overclock and such... I belive it was a Gigabyte something-or-another, AMD Athlon 64 bit 4000 processor, Radeon ATI 800x video, Creative sound, 120g and 80g HDs, and such.  Bought all the components seperate, and I belive it turned out to be about $700USD, same thing mfg. from Dell or such would have been 4x that, and cheap components and.... a... Pentium. Ahahahahaha.... I know what you mean man... I run just a plain AMD Athlon XP1800+ I've made it do alot more than they said it would Intel will be leading the line soon though with their EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface) BIOS replacement (about damn time). This will make all drivers be run by the BIOS essentially, well in this case the EFI, which will relieve the OS of having to deal with that. You'll have to buy all new hardware though, the general concensus is to include drivers on the hardware itself, but built into an EPROM so they can still be updated. PyroJoe
The 6600GT is a good card for the price! I have one myself Although I bought mine 2 years ago for 220. Which was a deal back then. Now you can grab it for half that. That's the computer world for you though.
Draco_Aster
Heheh. I might have to upgrade later on but thats fine with me. I will ust keep overclocking till I get to its limit. What I was really after was the 6800GT but they didn't have any. Hey memphistos, might catch up with ya soon on Red Orchestera. optimus
I'm thinking about trying to bind some stars which contain PVC by using 'PVC primer' as I've heard it works well, and haven't got any suitable solvent for the PVC. Is THIS what I'm looking for?
PyroJoe
That will probably work. I just bought mine from Lowes. It will make your stars rock hard if its the right stuff. Mine had Acetone, MEK, and THF in it.
optimus
Cool - thanks. I'll look out for those solvents on the can when I go searching for the stuff. On an extremely random note, does anyone have any idea what THIS crazy looking thing is?
