This crap with anyka has gone on long enough. How many threads were lost to this bullshit? Too many..... We all know what has to be done. But for some reason I honestly can't see, it hasn't happened yet.

Totally random, but I thought some of y'all might appreciate this series of photos - America in Color from 1939-1943:

Cool stuff! I love transparency film. And yeah- lampblack guy...man...not my kind of job, that's for sure.

That was a pretty cool link, optimus.

Ooohh--relationshit question. Girl I like, we've been friends for a while. I visited her at work, and I had been planning on asking her out. I drove her home, and she invited me inside to talk, which we did for about 30 mins. I learned, in the course of our discussion, that she would be busy all weekend thru Monday, and then going on vacation until next Sunday. So I held off in asking her, thinking it wouldn't be a good idea to ask her, and then not be able to see her for a week. We also talked a fair bit about relationships of our friends, and she seemed fairly interested.

So, the questions are, was she expecting me to ask her, and was it a good choice to wait until she will be around again?

just go it mate, and make some fireworks for her, chicks love it when you make things for them, especially stupid things like cards and stuff.

That was a quick reply... :)

If presume most of you will like the blue, I used CuSO4 for it and..

a little methylene chloride!

It gives off chlorine when it burns... good for the color, but toxic. So it has to be done only outdoors.

Surplisingly, with a little tweak, CaCl2 and methylene cloride gives a very deep red. Too bad I didn't take a photo, but I'll tweak it again.

The purple attempt was with potassium chloride

The orange is with CaCl2

The red has SrCl2

The green - H3BO3. Want to try it with BaCl2 and chlorine donor

The yellow - NaCl.

I put methylene chloride in every mix. It doesn't do anything to the green though.

Awesome looking stuff!

It's funny, I was going to work on the same project, for the same reason as you...but the fire spinning girl moved away. *sigh*

Coincidentally, I found a local/cheap supply of methanol today and I decided to go test some coloured alcohol flames. I'll probably try lithium chloride for the red next time as I had difficulties with SrCl2 and it didn't work as good as I would have hoped.

Blue = straight methanol

Green = methyl borate (aka. boric acid dissolved in methanol)

Yellow = sodium chloride in methanol.

Red = strontium chloride in methanol.

So I told you guys I'd let you know what's up with my legal stuff when I found out more (if you have no idea what I'm talking about, I explained it on page 317 of this thread). So at the moment the district attorney has filed two felony charges against me. I have a lawyer and he is going to try and keep the punishment light, but we'll see. I will very likely be going to court, but again, very lucky that I am a juvenile, because whatever happens in court will never be found by anyone who looks for it (employers, grad school admissions), only the police report.

What exactly did they charge you with? posession? manfacturing of illigal devices? (fireworks) or both.

hey scarbelly after reading about your run in with the law and from my own experiences I have come to the conclusion that it's not always best to tell the truth and be honest when it comes to the police, had you not admitted to anything and said you found them they probably would have confiscated them and sent you on your way, they would have needed a warrant to search your house, but because you were honest you paid the price, now you know they pretend to be nice and friendly but they still try to pin anything they can on you,in a friendly way that is,when it comes to the police honesty gets you nowhere, they can only do you for what you admit to,they are'nt your friends, they're out to flick up your life if they can or you let them, honesty is not the best policy.some might not agree with me here but its the truth.

I agree with you 100%.The cops always try to get you on their side so they can nail you with something. On my friends birthday I let off a large aerial salute and within 20 minutes the cops were there asking questions. He said to me " don't worry if you have firecrackers just tell us and we'll be on our way" They are illigall here and he kept persisting. I told him I heard what sounded like gunshots up the street. They finally left after an hour. To make a long story short, always play dumb.

Here here jimbo, right on the money, The truth doesn't always set you free, they are your friend until they have what they need, then they will use anything you said " and out of context too " just to bag another so called crim,

I agree with everyone so far. Don't talk to the police. You CAN NOT help yourself by doing so, only give them material they can use against you.

The police are just ordinary people doing their job and usually have a vested interest for the public's safety. If you do declare you have been doing something illegal, they have to take action as it is their job and it would be irresponsible if they didn't. Remember, although at this community and others like it the vast majority are smart about what they are doing and have no intentions to do anything that may cause damage; it's the ones who do the exact opposite who give hobbies like this a bad name. Naturally, if any authority hears anything pertaining to homemade 'energetics' they'll think of the big misconception we now have in today's era (this is ascribed to the use of explosives in the past decade).

I do agree, I wouldn't have told them that. I was going to give my thoughts when Scarbelly first mentioned what happened, but I decided not too. I'll mention them briefly now. It was around fourth of July, so I would have told them that the rockets were purchased by a guy in a red hat the other day or you discovered a box at the local park. As said, any sort of fib would work (you could even give them some other things you 'purchased' to make it more believable). It's NOT a GREAT idea to lie to police in this manner, but you could say you found them, someone gave them to you or you bought them etc. Probably any of these would be better than owing up to manufacturing. You need a search warrant to enter a premise, so they couldn't just barge into your house. At least, you would have a few days to get rid of your chemicals/equipment if they did get a search warrant and by that time you would have done some spring cleaning.

In essence, I agree with what people have said. You shouldn't say anything that you're not required to say and chances are you might have gotten off scot-free provided you remove any evidence suggesting that you made them or anything. I'm not encouraging that you should lie to police, but at least don't be so honest. Unfortunately, even if they have all reason to believe you're not a public threat, they still have to charge you. There's no difference (at least here) between making enough explosives to take down a building or a blackpowder fountain. They take it very seriously in today's era. Even being a minor, having an explosives charge is a bad thing to have on your name. I'm not sure what it is in like in America for charges, but I now have had first-hand experience with some of the laws here in Australia. It could potentially ruin your future ambitions and you'll have so many complications in your life. You're lucky you are a minor, because you would have been in some serious hot water if you weren't.

I wish you all the best and I hope everything turns out alright.

this is how ridiculous they're getting now, here in queensland they're going to try to ban any replica guns and to own anything that even resembles a gun you have to notify the police then they can decide whether you can have it or not, so that means toy guns and cap guns will fall under the same catagory, here they make the laws so vague and so hard to interprete that you wouldn't know its a crime until your done, why should we respect the law if this is how they make them, they have already successfully disarmed us so we can't do anything about it as a whole, lets face it whoever has the gun has the power and the pollies have their guns "the police"should we all stand by while these p.c arseholes make criminals of our childeren for owning an unlicenced and unregistered capgun.until the cops stop enforcing these ridiculous new laws I will never respect them.

btw gunzway they ain't normal it takes a certain type of f__kwhit to be a cop

I appologize if I offend anyone here, but I hate cops with a passion. Not only did they search my friends garage without a search warrant and told us they could if they have any suspicions, but these hotshots thought they were above the law. I spoke to another friend of mine who's an ex cop and you wouldn't believe the stories that he told me. I swore to him I wouldn't tell anyone so I'll write it instead. He told me they go to their local pub every Saturday night and get drunk. On top of that, they drive home drunk and if they get stopped, they show them their badge and their scott free. He also told me on numerous drug busts they steal money and store them in offshore accounts. He told me another incident where this one cop would approach a propriator in a food establishment and eat there for free in exchange to watch over the place. He also told me if they get into any trouble they have special lawyers to make deals with procecuters to keep them out of jail. With all this said, you think I'm going to have respect for these guys? I think not!! If anyone has not seen the movie "Law Abiding Citizen," you should watch it. I realize it's just a movie, but their's some truth in it.

If a certain fellow were to engage in the unlicensed practice of law, he'd probably say, "don't make ANY statements. This way, you aren't lying, and you aren't providing evidence. Never lie, just respectfully refuse to answer questions. Also, if questioned, lawyer up. The police aren't supposed to continue interrogation, and they usually don't, because that could ruin the state's case."

Scarbelly- make sure you fully discuss the implications of conviction with your attorney! Don't rush things. Maybe, just maybe, yall can negotiate and get things dropped to misdemeanor?

I doubt there are much other like our cops in Bulgaria. If they catch you doing something illegal, most of the time they will ask 1/5 -1/10 of the official fine and they'll take it for them. Then they let you free.

If they are called for noise from pyro devices, they will come, take a walk, play it like big players with their flashlights and get back in the car.

Bad things you can do with bulgarian cops:

-Insult them. As result, you can be beaten real good and left bleeding on the street. Or, you can be beaten and then taken to the department.

-Argue about the fine they want from you. They can increase it, or ask you for the official fine.

-Trying to be the real player, claiming having connections and that your papa is mob. They like to beat people like that.

Good things for a bulgarian cop:

-Be nice with the guys, sometimes they can be nice too.

-When you can, try to meet with your local cops and if you can, do them favors. They will know you and this can save you one day.

-Sometimes they can be mean, so just wait them to tell you what they really want.

-Sometimes they will make jokes, for example: (When will you blow the f***ing parlament?). Then, just play it cool.

:D
