Sympathies, scarbelly. This is probably the worst day of the year for shooting home-made, since every cop in the country is looking for only one thing.

Thanks guys. I was being polite and friendly, and the police officer said he thought the worst case was probation. The bomb squad guy said it would likely be probation so who knows...

But yeah as far as legal counsel goes, my family is going to talk to a lawyer.

Again good luck everybody and be safe and careful.

Hey, Guys,

Is it safe enough to load crosettes with chlorate whistle mix booster? Crosettes are C8 with titanium and iron (w sulphur)

And is it safe to hot glue the end cap knowing that chlorate has a very low ignition temperature with some compositions to be sth like 210-330C?

And are they generally safe to store? :)

I know that this might sound childish, but better to be safe then sorry :)

not the best (perc whistle would be better) but unlike with stars and burst or other things there is absolutely no movement inside the crossette

I don't think you should have a problem. About hot glue guns, they cannot heat more than 200C, average 180C for the most powerful hot glue guns. They cannot ignite black powder, I don't know about chlorate compositions. BP ignites at 280-300C.

If you're worried about long-term storage and compatability you could always use rolled shots - I wouldn't be too concerned though.

Don't forget to unplug your hot-glue guns before using them. Every now and again they fail catastrophically and shoot flames out the front :o

Looks good - as long as there's no circuit when in use it will be fine. There are various photos of hot-gun failures on Pyrobin - as far as I know noone has had a bad accident with them yet, better safe than sorry though : )

Gah, I'm gonna punt a baby!!!!!

Several questions--

1)Why won't undergroundgadgets let me access their store? Do I need to make an account?

2)Does anyone other than cheapchemicals.com sell bismuth trioxide??

3)Would anyone here care to sell me some? I cannot believe that it costs 58$/pound. I checked that site a year ago, and it was about 35$/lb, which in my opinion is still a ripoff.2angry.gif

Join passfire. In the first year, the money you save by purchasing chemicals greatly pays off the admission price. There is some going for around $20/lb right now there.

Thats Cracker, he does not like to sell to those he has no connection with. Mumbles is correct, you need to join passfire so that you can get pummeled by the crabs that lurk there cheap chemicals. ;)

If you do join just remember that you should NEVER reply to a tense conversation, there is only one moderator (sorry Sidewinder and Mumbles), Kyle and he will NOT moderate the content no matter what. It can get pretty tense over there but you are no longer dealing so much with the amateur side of pyro as several of the pyros over there are pros and can give advice based on making tens of thousands of pounds of stars and the like over that past several years.

Anyone here knows how to upload HD videos to youtube? I bought an HD camera (Sony HDR-CX115) and when I take videos down from the camera they're still in high def. but when they go on youtube quality is reduced to 480p but it should be atleast 780p, if not 1080p. File type that goes on YT is MPEG-2, resolution is 1440 x 1080.

dont do it using the provided software and you will be right most of the HD camreas have 2 different record modes one fancy one and one basic the basic one just takes up more space on the SD card thats pretty much It set it to that and you will find life is much easier

Youtube's max HD res is 720p (1280x720). It might be disagreeing with your encoding - not sure as I never tried myself - you're sure you're checking the correct boxes when uploading I assume. You could try reencoding to H.264 MP4.

EDIT, max is actually 1080p now... mabye you're confusing it by selecting 1080p when the file is lower-res?

I think i've found the problem. The camera has quite a few settings for different video quality and dimensions. Apparently the original setting told it to record to 1440 x 1080, i've changed this now to 1920 x 1080. Hopefully this will do it. If this doesn't work i'll try and encode them to H264 MP4.

Thanks for the help guys.

PGF, I have a cheap $80.00 Panasonic Camcorder and got the HD on youtube. Basicely mpeg 1,2,3 and 4 which is Divx are all formats that have been compressed to shorten the file and quality of the video. I have software which I use, called Pinnacle studio 14 which allows me to edit the video and allows me to choose which format to save the video in. If you can upload your video on youtube in an .AVI format as it is a raw uncompressed file format, then you will be able to view it in HD on youtube. Personally, I don't know if I need glasses but, I don't see much of a difference. You be the judge.

Success! :D

Finally convinced youtube to play my vids in 1080p (HD) :D As usual, the software that came with the camera was crap. Switched to Video Studio Pro X3 saved as .mp4 and now it works as it should :D
