lostfido
This will show my age, but I saw Iron Maiden (and Eddie) open for Judas Priest on the 1982 Screaming For Vengeance tour 1981 @ First Ave. in Minneapolis, the tour for Killers if I remember right. That was the first of multiple times seeing Maiden

RUUUUUN
What's this "Formulary Database" going to consist of precisely?
Ventsi
Damn, humidity dropped like crazy today, no matter what I did, wherever I went there were sparks flying off of me. Good thing I just milled Sulfur and nothing involving comps. Edited March 28, 2010 by Ventsi
TheSidewinder
What's this "Formulary Database" going to consist of precisely? Well... that's still being worked on. So far, it will be: A table of Chemicals: Elements, metals, compounds, etc. Fully searchable, with a field each for notes and pics.A table of typical metal types (flitter, Dark, Bright, German Blackhead, Indian Blackhead, etc), not really searchable since it will be presented as an option for the next part.A table of Formulas, comprised of ingredients from the Chems database, metal types if applicable, instructions for making, notes and pics. Fully searchable. Similar to what Passfire has, but not a clone. Members will be able to add Chems and Formulas, and after approval by a Mod/Admin, will be in the database. More than that, is up to you all. What do you WANT in it?

TheEskimo
A formulary, eh? Sounds like jolly fun. IMO, a list of comps would be best if sorted among effect--blue, glitter, red, green, charcoal streamer, etc. Or perhaps it would be best to divide them by oxidizer--AP, KCLO3, KP, BaNO3, KNO3, SrNO3--and then you could search each oxidizer for the effect that you want. Also, perhaps this is too much...a How-To-Do-It listing of ways to make stuff--rockets, casings, effects, etc--a sort of taking the tutorial section, and making it easier to maneuver through. And, while we're on the subject of "Formularies", perhaps one for safety.... Edited March 28, 2010 by TheEskimo
RUUUUUN
I was thinking along the same lines as Eskimo. Not only formulae, but as people delve further they can put up tutorials on things like: electrolysis, presses, diagrams/schematics(rockets bodies, cell designs, circuitry, EBWs, ball mills, anything that a diagram makes eaier to explain), pasting, tube rolling, etc. Not only a formulae database, but more and encyclopedia that is easier to archive/back up than a forum. I understand that places like this already exist readily, however another source of information is never a bad thing in my opinion.
NightHawkInLight
What would be very cool, though I'm not sure how difficult it would be to implement, is a search engine that would accept a list of chemicals and all compositions using only what was listed would appear. You could then enter all of the chemicals you are in possession of, and see all compositions available with what you have. It would then also be useful were you shopping around for more chems, to add each chemical you are looking into buying into the search, and seeing which ones expand your options most effectively. I also suggest that no particularly sensitive compositions be entered into the database. There are some chlorate/sulfur type compositions that may be useful in very specific applications by very experienced individuals, but they will not need a database if they are that experienced. Many databases contain dangerous compositions simply to provide as complete a list as possible, but I do not believe that is appropriate or necessary here. Now, I do believe old compositions containing hard to obtain items should be listed. Anyone who looks into making something with paris green is obviously not looking into taking shortcuts. TheSidewinder
Ralph: I forgot.... there will be ratings. What else you suggested? Umm.... I don't think that's possible, but I'll check. The rest of you: Articles? Actually, that will be a built-in feature of IP.Board 3.1 And we will be approve all formulas before anyone sees them. I'm also pretty sure we can restrict content based on User Group.

How cool would it be to actually see the difference between Win39 and Win20 glitters, or Ruby Red vs. Veline? I think the mod approval should be more toward ensuring that the submitted video is a fair representation of the formula and meets some minimum quality standard. I should have been more clear in my previous description. When I said you could add "Pictures", I should have said "Media". You can directly add a video if you want to. We really don't need to worry about space, so anyone who thinks they're getting close to their upload limits should speak up. I'll raise them. Twotails
Im try to decide if $14/lb for Relgar is worth it, I know its Arsnic Disulfide, so its a deadly poison(same with the smoke produced from fireworks made with it) But from what i hear Relgar is damn near impossable to get, and normaly pricy. What your guys opinion? I thinking at the very most i would order 3lbs of it an i'll be set for quite some time.

Mumbles
That price is completely reasonable. Some people pay just as much if not more for Sb2S3 to put it in perspective.
NightHawkInLight
I'm off to Mexico in the morning: http://www.ranchosordomudo.org/default.asp It'll be the second time I've been serving out of country, the first being a few years back in Mongolia. Just about every year I go someplace to help with what I can, but getting away from the States is always an experience of its own. I'll be going with some good friends of mine that I've known through my church for a dozen years now. I'm very much looking forward to it. Hopefully I'll be back with plenty of video to show. Twotails
Word of the wise(you probably already know this) Dont drink the water, and stay away from ice cubes (as well as undercooked pork, triginosis isnt fun) We warned a buddy of mine about that, and thinking he was tough, he didnt heed our advice. Needless to say he was quite ill, for most of the trip. Edited April 3, 2010 by Twotails

Hah, my US History teacher is heading there too for the next week. Horay for substitutes and movies. BTW, I found a source of cheap binder's board, or a very good substitute, go to your local framing/art shop and ask them for double or triple thick hot press illustration board. Something like 8 bucks for a 48" by 72" piece.
TheEskimo
Dang...I've been to most of the states, but never out of the country:( Good luck and have fun...be sure to come back with a nice tan, too:)And Ventsi...what exactly do you use binder board for? Plugs, perhaps? I love when teachers leave......SO much fun, 'cause I sign out my hall pass, and visit friends all day:)Had a jolly time yesterday. Went up to Rickett's Glen with about 12 friends, had a cookout, hiked the waterfalls, and had a second cookout. Then I slept in and missed track practice.....
