Gunzway Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 From what I know, girls dislike dating their friends and especially their best friends. You generally get 'friend zoned' and they won't even think about you in the relationship sense. Of course, this is a generalization. I know from current personal experience it's not necessarily the case. But that's the case with the majority of these things. What I gathered from what you said about her behavior, is that she isn't entirely sure (Captain Obvious here). I would think she's tossing up being with you or just remaining as friends. As in, the consequence if there were to be a bad break up, would it ultimately affect your friendship forever. That sort of dilemma. It's quite common and generally girls value the friendships more so. It'll be hard to get a direct answer as to whether she would want to take it to a 'new level' or remain as friends, discreetly. I think your answer may be given to you on the night. Good luck! I also +1 for a thread like that. Good to know our community isn't a bunch of socially reclusive guys who have an unhealthy addiction to fire .
TrueBluePyro Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Anyone here have a good wireless firing system? Im interested in investing in one and just want to know what is a good one to get. I'm really only looking for something small, cheap and has more then one cue.
dagabu Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Will, Did you ask on Passfire too? Quantumfire QF-12? D
TheEskimo Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Well...I got my drivers license! Another crazed 17 year old with a 2000 pound hammer at his fingertips Anyways...Thanks for the advice Gunzway. I'll just chill, and wait for prom. Of course, that is 2 months away, but I will survive. We're going to see Alice in Wonderland sometime this week, maybe I'll see what happens. I love spouting about my private life over the Internetz....thanks guys for listening to my whining. And if I have any more questions, I'll start the official "Young Men Unsure How To Act in Social/Romantic Situations" thread.
50AE Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 God... I though the APC forum was closed until today when I found out that it has just changed its address. I'm glad to see you again guys !!
50AE Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Ventsi wrote me a PM. I found the message at my e-mail.

I'm really only looking for something small, cheap and has more then one cue. There's a friend of mine in MPAG that makes some incredible compact wireless firing systems. Close to 1,000 yard range. I can't remember if they were 4 or 6 que. He can program multiple boxes to fire from a single remote upon request. $200 I believe. If you're interested send me your email address and I'll let him know to contact you.
asilentbob Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 I got the email. Here I am again! I have been too busy with college for pyrotechnics. For those who it may concern there is a pyrotechnic artists of Texas shoot the weekend ending spring break. For details check their NEW website:http://www.pyrotexas.org/I wont be going, just a little too far away for me. There is a independence day display coming up that I might help out with. Other than that I dunno when I'll do any significant amount of pyro. Been keeping a bottle of triethyl borate in the back seat. Have had many occasions to use it. Gunzway's opinion is similar to mine. I have became good friends with girls before, then asked them out and been rejected. "Its hard for many girls to get normal guy friends to hang out with without the guys getting too attracted and asking them out." (The last girl who was a friend who I tried to get with told me this after rejecting me. So a look into the female mind.) If you think about it, it makes sense. They have to do this light passive rejection thing before you even try to ask them out to reduce the chance of it. So she may feel like hanging out with you, but say she doesn't feel like hanging out because she knows you are really attracted to her and she doesn't want you to get even more attracted to her. You might not be the kind of guy she is attracted to for dating. Its not completely set in stone though. ... ... BUT in your situation I would as well be completely confused. I tend to think that if she is willing to go to prom with you, she is willing to date you... BUT yeah it might be just a as friends kinda thing. You might want to just straight up ask her when you 2 are alone at some point how she feels about this. If she just wants to stay friends, be understanding that she really likes you as a friend and just wants to keep you as a friend. The faster you get over it the faster you guys will get through that little awkward stage. If she starts just not talking to you, you can get a friend of hers to tell her that you are over it and just want to get back to being friends. Ah the crazy world of relationships... Speaking of which, I have had a girlfriend since mid January. My birthday is soon. I think I'll be getting some exotic pepper plants, nothing too spicy. Aside from that and a larger gift card to a used book store, I don't know. Going to get myself some presents soon. I need more shirts. Going to try to go with friends to see Alice in Wonderland at IMAX some time this weekend. That is going to be great. Did I ever post what I got myself for xmas/new years? I got a really bright multimode LED flashlight that runs off 2xAA. "4seven's Quark AA^2" Been carrying it around everywhere.
TheEskimo Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 EEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!EEE!E!E!E!EE! Skylighter has 12$/pound spherical Ti!!!!!!!!!!!! -80mesh and above But I am poor Well, I'm gonna talk to the girl sometime this week, and see what's going on. Ralph Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 There is a composition called benzo lift floating around and many people who for some unknown reason cant make bp us it. it is essentially whistle mix watered down with bp (or you could say bp sped up with whistle) anyway many people make this with sodium benzoate wouldn't this absorb the water used when granulating and essentially render the mixture useless (i know this not to be the case just wondering why it dosnt)

Warm, dry air makes it dry out just like black powder. D
Ralph Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 ah cool because every one always warns not to granulate straight whistle with water
dagabu Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Stage one - mix the charcoal, potassium nitrate, and sulfur (screened to get the lumps out) into enough hot water to make a thin gravy. The mixture should be almost the consistency of commercial tomato soup when properly prepared. Stir this for at least 10 minutes and let sit for another five minutes or so - then stir again. The intent is to uniformly mix the ingredients - the charcoal needs to combine with the KNO3 enough to make the mix reactive when dry. The mixture should be perfectly smooth. Stage two - Add in the sodium salicylate. The mixture will still be soupy at first but will rapidly thicken up as the salicylate absorbs the moisture. The mixture should turn into an oatmeal-like mush. If it is thinner, that is ok. If it is thicker, then consider adding just a bit of water. Remember, it should be oatmeal like your mom used to make -- before the oatmeal dried on the stove. Stage three - Add in the potassium perchlorate. This will take some arm strength but you should end up with a doughy mixture that will not readily pour out of the bowl but still squeeze through your fingers like slow natives through elephant feet. It takes about five minutes of vigorous mixing to get this stage. Knead the resultant dough with your hands until it is well mixed. I use nitrile gloves to protect my hands - you can go with naked hands but it will take a while to get clean afterwards. Stage four - Spread the gooey mixture on an aluminum or non-sparking pan and make criss-cross marks in it with a spatula. Dry for a couple of hours. Crystallizing potassium nitrate will start to turn the outside of the mix white. Mix again when the consistency is heavy dough and get it uniformly colored. Dry until the mix is pretty solid, screen it once or twice – enough to make it uniform in color again. Dry for the final time. I think that about does it. D
Ralph Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 (edited) thats not what i was asking (i have no interest in making it and cregan has a good tut anyway) im wondering why for straight(obviously with the addition of a water soluble binder) whistle(aperntly due to sodium benzoate absorbing water) it is bad and for benzolift water is not Edited March 7, 2010 by Ralph
dagabu Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 It IS Danny's, you asked and his tut tells us more. "thats not what i was asking im wondering why for straight whistle it is bad and for benzolift water is not" The secret is in the charcoal, why not make it? It is easy and powerful. D
Ralph Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 (edited) Bp is more gentle and cheaper my Bp costs me in the order of $2.40 per killo benzolift would be at least $15 if not more Edited March 7, 2010 by Ralph
asilentbob Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Its the premise that "whistle mix" is to be used for whistle rockets, where comp absorbing water leads to failures. Unlike using whistle or benzolift for breaking shells where if it has picked up a very very small amount of moisture from the air, it doesn't matter, it will still work. /Captain obvious.
Mumbles Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 ah cool because every one always warns not to granulate straight whistle with water Try talking to people who actually know what they're talking about. There is no reason why you can't granulate whistle with water. Anyone who told you that has probably never tried it, or can't make good whistle to begin with. The whistling effect is somewhat destroyed, but as others have said the power for boosting is still there. There really is no reason to granulate whistle for rockets with water anyway. I've used granulated whistle for breaking crossettes. I've stopped doing that, but they worked. I also tried it with red gum and alcohol, and it was about the same. Granulated with NC makes it a bit stronger.
Ralph Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Thankyou Mumbles that removes the contradiction in my mind here is one of the places that i read it "I personally use coated rice hulls for break, I whet them slightly with a very dilute NC lacquer and add 1% whistle by weight to dry 4:1 BP coated rice hulls. Never use water to apply whistle, it will ruin the whistle and make a soggy mess" (http://www.amateurpyro.com/forums/topic/4667-burst-comp-charge-questions/page__p__60660__hl__granulate%20whistle__fromsearch__1&?do=findComment&comment=60660)
50AE Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 (edited) What an irony... Back in my k3wl days, I had 500 grams of atomized Al and I hated it because it wasn't good for flash. Now I have a good Al for flash (bright). But I rarely mix flash and I hate this bright Al, because it stains, it's fluffly and its stars are very hard to cut and pump. Now I love glitters that use atomized Al and it finished so quickly, I don't have of it anymore. I can't find of it here, so I have to buy internationally. The atomized Al I didn't like once, is one of the most precious chemicals for me now. As are the most metals.I'm tired of using organic fueled stars. The truth is - I'm out of money and life is very poor here. I guess I'll have to save to make a large shopping from czort. TheEskimo Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Oh yah...I took the SAT's back in January. Got a 1930. I was fairly happy. Now my goal is to get to atleast 2000s-2100s, at minimum. I was surprised; the guy with the highest average, and who will be valedictorian in my class got only in the 1600s.
50AE Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 10 minutes ago, I was going to pour my opened container with charcoal to the ball mill, when the airfloat powder started to move. WOW, I said. When I looked inside, I saw a big fly sitting on my charcoal. It flew off the container, making a black cloud of powder.
