TheEskimo
Scarbelly...I'm thinking a package or two of these truffles would do the trick: http://www.blackhoundny.com/chocolates.cfm. They're a bit expensive , but they are just great. They come in a pretty box, and are ohhh so tasty. My parents loved me for about 3 weeks after I got them a box. I could do no wrong.....And for anyone else that has an official spouse....go for BlackHoundNY.....Big time brownie points Edited December 22, 2009 by TheEskimo
Mumbles
I might have to second the truffles. I can't get enough of them, even the cheaper kinds. Lindt is a fairly common brand, at least around here. My favorite are hazelnut, although they are all very good. They shouldn't be TOO expensive, and she/they will like them. scarbelly
That's a good idea guys, thanks. I also love truffles, and I wouldn't have thought of that. So far what I've decided is to get all the girls a christmas stocking as a base, and fill it with various goodies. Truffles sound like a perfect stocking stuffer. I might get something additional (I'll definitely get them each a card), but then I'm back to square one in deciding what that would be :/

Mumbles
This is meant for the HE section but mumbles never replys to my PM's... I have nitro methane and AN. I want to make ANNM. [Edited] I would like to point out that I don't have any message from you in my inbox. Which means of the numerous message you must have sent me, none have gotten to me in the last 6 months or so. TrueBluePyro
Yes I haven't sent you one lately, but every single time I sent you a PM in the past, I have never got one back from you, so what is the point to send one now.
dagabu
From fairly costly to very affordable: Nice pair of sun glasses, quality writing instruments, stationary. Not too personal, but tasteful. The biggest mistake a man can make, well, almost. Trying too hard. Be slightly aloof, be there but don't come off as desperate. I like the gifts above. Bonny
Alright, I'll coat with wax via heating and stirring. Would 1-2% wax be a reasonable amount?I'd imagine 1-2% should be fine as long as it coats the metal. You can also use linseed oil for coating. Sorry, to busy being a smart-ass Put a pan on a heat source on a low flame, grate some wax over the top and stir the metal. Add more and stir. The 1-2% is very deceiving, 1% may be more then enough or 2% may be too little. add more until it is coated... but not thickly, just a sheen. Or linseed oil like bonny says. TheEskimo
I am happy because Christmas break started.....I am sad because Skylighter no longer has spherical Ti....And check out AmeriPyroSupply; they have lots of tooling now. Rockets, shells, spolettes, stingers, whistles, hybids, comets, stars, etc. Hooray for official one-stop shopping.
Mumbles
American Pyro's tools seem to be made by Ben Smith of Firesmith Tooling. He makes some quality stuff, and they are even being sold at Ben's pricing.

TheEskimo
Ahhhh...I just took a 4 hour siesta And now burritos for dinner. Anyways, anyone use food dehydrators for drying BP, stars, etc? I have used them to great success in the past. I set it on the lowest setting, and let it run for a day or two, depending on what's being dryed. They're also handy because they come with lots of mesh racks. Mumbles
I am looking to make some delay tests in the coming months for beraq related activities. I plan to ram them spolette style and time. I will probably do a few tests for each composition. How long of a powder column do you guys think would be best to get the most accurate timing? I was thinking 2-3" at least. I was thinking about maybe using a metal tube to make it reusable, although I may stick with paper.

I was thinking about maybe using a metal tube to make it reusable, although I may stick with paper. Mike Swisher was just talking about that, 2-3" and drilling them back with a smaller bit for timing was what he suggests. I am a time fuse guy myself, I will get to them sooner or later though. Mumbles
I think you're missing the point here a bit. I don't care about the spolettes so much, they are just a convenient testing method. Beraq are made with a BP-like slurry for the delay. I want to try to get a series of compositions with known timings, so I can try to tailor several different delays. The real test will be the slurry primed compositions of course. I want to use the spolettes to get a burn speed idea, and rough set of compositions to start from. Once I have an idea of what to use, I'll roll some tubes, and slurry prime them to try to get good delay separation. It's not a bad idea to drill them back to an absolute known length. Twotails
back on the last page, food dehydrators were mentioned. I find this works wonderful($30 at walmart, 6 shelf dehydrator) get the shelfs that are made to dry soups and liquids, that way, you can spread out your composition(without it leaking through/mixing) cut it in the tray for cut stars when its still semi-soft, or empty it out, and deal with it as you will. it should be mentioned, a tray the preforms similer to the perchesed soup virsion can be made with a layer of plastic wrap, and or waxed/parchment paper. it works pretty good, and drys things pretty darn fast. TheEskimo
AVATAR is friggin' awesome!! . It's really nice in 3D, and surround sound. Anyone else see it, and did anyone like it? Also, saw Sherlock Holmes; it was fun, but not as good. Edited December 31, 2009 by TheEskimo

Ventsi
Avatar was a GREAT movie! agreed! Its a shame the place I was on vacation with my friends didn't have it 3D, but still very well put nonetheless. On the nuts side of things, I'm going crazy putting together things for tomorrow. Cake's, racks, insert mines, fountains, set pieces, leaders and lift on shells.....Ahhh, I just had another cup of coffee to help me out tonight.
