What exactly happened with the deal or what was it about?

And Swany, where did you order this mercury anyways? Only place I can find it is from UN and I would rather not pay so much. <_<

Fairly private supplier. PM me if interested.

I am looking at a page about a new, better flashbang. More flash, less bang. Basically it is BP propelled Al that makes a fuel air mix and ignites. I am having fun trying this microscale... I will dig up the link for you all, if interested.

He tried his hand at a pyro supplies site but he isn't a good business man. People can vouch for him being a good guy and all, so most likely there weren't any bad intentions.

From what I remember he supposedly got hurt. It was however excuse after excuse after excuse, with each one getting more bizzare. Then months without any word, followed by empty promises.

I hope he got his life back together as things seemed pretty grim for him. I'm not really upset at him persay, just frustrated that I didn't take the safer route and order DiscountPyro, instead of helping out a starting business.

I hope you guys in Australia are ok. That was one hell of a storm that hit.

This is a really stupid question but is their anyway to get the stains of pictic acid out of my hands? I had rubber gloves on but when i took them off the yellow liquid got on my hand so i instantly put sodium bicarbonate on it and washed it with water. This stuff is really stubborn!!

Nope, they'll be there for a while. The skin itself is stained. You could add something else that would stain the skin over it to try to get rid of it. Strong H2O2 may do it, but I am not sure. The best thing would be to scrub it off, or wait for it to fall off naturally. It is usually gone within a few days.

I don't know about the n00b part of Australia (everywhere but Tasmania) but down here we are fine. The whole extreme weather thing dosent affect us much. Unless its cold, oh how I hate the cold.

In other news I am making tooling to sell. I havn't decided what metal to go with. There are a few options including:

Brass Pros: Relativly (to Al) hard and easy to machine, generally good to work with.

Brass Cons: Pretty expensive and softer than stainless steel.

Al Pros: Lightweight, cheap and easy as to machine.

Al Cons: Scratches fucking easily and bends.

Stainless Pros: Best for weight and strength.

Stainless Cons: Fucking expensive and difficult to machine.

Pro tooling uses a mix of Al and stainless (Usually a stainless spindle/rammers with an Al base) so I may do similar, although with Al and Brass instead. The tooling I will be selling is basic stuff like BP rocket, Stinger Rocket, Star Pumps and shit like that. Perhaps wooden shell case formers too, as they are easy as to make if you have the lathe (like my school does).

Now, here is my problem; Shipping this sorta stuff to the US or anywhere outta AU gets kinda expensive. So I need to know if there is interest within AU for it to be viable. I will still do it if there is enough international interest. Pricing will be materials cost plus a bit. A bit meaning literally a bit, I plan to sell lots of stuff and make my money in the long run rather than not being competitive and getting no buisness.

I must warn any potential customers though, I am 16 ok. I am new to metal work but can turn things of a fair quality (see my photo bucket album here: http://photobucket.com/albums/v466/mephistosminion/ )

Also I am fairly in debt (not monitarily it just takes me ages to get anything done, IE posting things out and I have 2 packages waiting to go that I still havnt done in ages because of school and other matters.) So I will not be selling anything untill I have made a fair stockpile ready to post out and sorted other affairs out. I think it only fair that I warn you.

All I need to know right now is anyone (especially Aussies) interested in tooling made by me for a decent price?

Right now I am looking at 25 kilos of pure KClO3, in my bed room in aus. Happy Man I am. I am thinking of selling it (kclo3.com.au?) for around 20 dollars a Kilo plus P&H. Anyone ?

Swany mind posting more information or a link to a site about that flashbang type devices. I am deffinitely more interested in a huge bright flash than the boom so it would be rather cool to do that.

And I got fucked over by DTP too. Ordered like 40 bucks worth of stuff and never got it. He basically got in a bind and started spending all the money from orders and not shipping it...or if he did...he sent wrong chemicals or only half of them.

If anyone's interested in some crazy Japanese hanabi videos, you can download/stream 200 odd mb worth here here.

This one is quite tasty too : P

Anyone got any equally obscure firework video they would like to share?

Well that sucks. I spose there is nothing that could of been done.

And I am interested in a nice flashbang design, with less bang. So far I've had some blindings, but I soon becomne deaf from the incidents.

Mephisto, too bad I'm in the US or I would order from you, your machining is quite nice.

Novacaine, nice hall. I have a full pound that so far hasn't been touched, I really need to use some <_<

Basically it is an FAE utulizing Al powder. Mg would be brilliant, or perhaps a Al/Mg mix? Blackpowder propels the Al through nozzles at about 300-600psi, and ignites it. Take a look, and read it through.

Basically I just shot some Al powder out of a small tube. Still worked.

I bought some Zinc powder from Discount Pyro a while back, and tried using it in some Akwapo stars. They didn't work at all, and I noticed a post that said that they worked well with 600 mesh zinc. My zinc is no where near that mesh. My zinc has a hard time burning with a blowtorch at full burn.

Has anyone ordered the zinc powder from Discount pyro, and had it work? Or is it supposed to be this low a mesh?

I there are heaps of these bungs where I work. Thought they would be ideal endplugs. They look exactly the same as the ones sold at tube suppliers and the size ranges from about 10mm to the size of a fist. :)

The smaller ones would be of sufficient strenght for salutes, mortars and bulkheads. I will try when I make a few tubes for them.

DONT WORRY - THE IMAGE IS ONLY 72KB

That video was pretty fucking nuts. Those stars had to be like 2 inch comets or something. They were pretty bright for daylight too.

Those are military issue decoys. They're used to confuse, and take seeking missles off of the planes. They're a Mg/Teflon based mixture I think usually. Hell, it's the US military, it probably has some Zirconium in it.

Just keep in mind, they are used as decoys to heat seeking missles, when you got a radar guided missle locked on to you, you're pretty much screwed.

mmm...zirconium...what i woulnd't give for a pound of that. I hear Zr is highly flammable so it is stored under water, anyone know at which temp. it bursts into flames.

Specifically heat seeking missiles. It's like shooting exotic road flares out the sides and bottom of a plane.

Yea well ive got a little bit of AP in my fridge just waiting to get filtred but sadly a few days ago when I synthed the AP I had thought I had Baking soda but I didn't. SO its been in there for a few days since some how I have all kinds of exotic hard to get chemicals yet no household baking soda. It sucks because I actually used concentrated H2O2 this time so I got a decent yeild and some how BIG crystals like some are almost 3-4mms. Most of it is the regular small ap but theres a little bit thats pretty big which makes having to wait to filter it all the worse. Luckily i came to my moms house today and they have a huge bag of baking soda so i plan to filter it when I get back home.

Also I tried some NC in a old star shooter I had but I used a battery instead of a star and it worked decent to shoot it like a cannon. I got my cannon now since it was at my moms. I plan on shooting shit with it and it rocks. I love my cannon its made from about a foot and a half of copper pipe(Diameter of a AA battery) and a slab of cement for stability.

Zr, when the powder hits air, bursts into flames. I spose this makes it a pyroforic metal. My friend has about 1/4 pound of it. He was going to give it to me, but he dkept it, I need to go to his house one day and have some pyro fun

I went to the rocket launch today and it was very fun. I haelp one of my friends (not the guy from above, but he was there too) launch his "Love Rocket" on an M-1939. They rocket is 14 feet tall and 6 inches in diameter, weighing in at about 40 pounds. It got up to 11,476 feet.

While I was there, another friend (I'm popular :P ) gave me a motor. It was made in 1978 and is supposedly russian. If this is true, it is a micture of picric acid and RDX. As soon as I can, I'll post a picture of the motor. I plane to launch it nxt month.
