Ventsi
Anyone seen rockets like theese: Freaking awsome video. Shame its not in English.
Seymour
I love that video. I do not think glass-tube rockets are common! There is also a video out there of slow motion shells being fired from a glass mortar.
flying fish
Glass tubes? Very Interesting. I wonder what type of glass they use...and how thick (not planning on trying it, just curious!). I also found it interesting that it looked like most of the stars ignighted not inside the tube, but outside. The fireball did not develop until after the top popped off. Is this what happens in a normal firework shell? Unrelated #1: Hell yeah Wings!!! Unrelated #2: My apple cider smells strongly like super glue. Is it safe to drink? [/expecting some crazy chemical explaination]
FrankRizzo
The rocket casings and mortar are not glass, they're made of clear plastic. They are not use in commercial production, those devices were made specifically for the high-speed filming.
flying fish
That makes more sense...I wouldn't have thought that a plastic would remain so clear while the rocket motor is firing (and presumably melting it)...but I have to remind myself that traditional logic goes out the window when watching high speed footage . Swede
Dead giveaway of future Darwin award recipients; the use of the word "DOOD" as a preface to every single sentence. "Dood, dood, you OK?"Dood, hahaha! That was f-----g awesome!""dood" "Dood, put it in your pants/car/shoe/a$$ and LIGHT IT!" The kitchen cabinet one was genuinely disturbing. RUUUUUN
I hate socialism quite simply because of this: "Socialism refers to any one of various economic theories of economic organization advocating state or cooperative ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and a society characterized by equal opportunities/means for all individuals with a more egalitarian method of compensation based on the full product of the laborer." I happen to like to reap what I sow(good and bad), and NOT give it to the stupid lazy idiotic bastard(literally, not figuratively) who doesn't want to excell at life and just be given everything. I am a capitalist dog to the core, I hate communism, socialism, marxism, and all that happy, sappy, utopian crap that makes me give up my hard earned bread for stupid unintelligent liberal whiners and their stupid agendas. I think to government should be used for national defense(which is why I am a marine) and as a judiciary body for carrying outmajor infractions of the law, once it has completed that objective they can get off my property and allow me to blow my own house up if I so choose, I am only damaging myself, If I want to kill myself, let me! As long as I am not damaging government or other peoples properties then I should be entitled to do what ever I want. crazyboy, what do you mean force people to fight in war? the military is totally volunteer these days... and I agree about making abortions illegal, if you were stupid enough to create life, then you obviously aren't smart enough to take it away! murder doesn't only affect yourself, if you want to kill yourself go ahead, but killing another sentient life form is worthy of capital punishment. Once you kill someone in cold blood, your life is forfeit! Edited May 31, 2009 by RUUUUUN
50AE
I just bought a passfire account today. Well, I like it very much. Great tutorials, formulas, I can't open the forum though, I always get to a page that tells me to "log out" and to relog again. However, I'm also kind of sad, because I think that most of this info there doesn't suit me. I mean, I'm a poor pyro, lacking space and tools, I can't afford to make many of these big projects. I have a 8 square meters balcony that is my only work place, and it's not entirely mine. I already have a difficulty a placing ball mill and a star roller, and what about "black match frame", "shell's builder working bench" and others . So right know I'm thinking if I didn't waste my money, because I already knew most of the things needed to make pyro on a small scale. Oh, maybe I have just to go to sleep and be happy about my passfire account. I'm just confused. Edited May 31, 2009 by 50AE
firetech
How are the pages in the archives? I have only used frequent guest accounts which only allow access to a few pages.

Mumbles
I think you're missing the point 50AE. Firetech has signed up for several guest accounts. Guest accounts only give limited access to the articles. Otherwise, one could just save all the articles, and never have to pay. I don't know what the guest account gives access to. Overall the articles are pretty good, though they have been slow coming as of late. It's nice to see some of the techniques instead of just reading about them with crude illustrations. There is pretty much an illustrated copy of the Fulcanelli papers on there. There is a lot of good information about canister shells. Yes, the devices tend to focus on the larger items. 4-6" mainly. There really just arn't as many things you can do with the smaller devices, whether people like it or not. Most of the tools are neat, and may make life easier, but not necessary. The forum and formula database themselves are worth the admission price. You just have to be aware that things are different there. They don't really put up with childish stuff. Be prepared to get 11 different answers from 10 people about how to do just about anything too.
Ventsi
Hey 50AE do you mind telling me how you went about drying/baking your SGRS , as in what temps how many hours and such? In great detail , please.
50AE
With a guest account, I had access to 1-2 articles. With the full account, I have access to all articles. These who where unlocked previously in my guest session are the same, there's no more info in them. Ventsi. 1. You buy Glutinous Rice2. You measure a batch and let it soaked in water for a week (I did for a day and it worked for me)3. You take out this wet rice, it should have expanded a little because of the water4. Prepare a kitchen steamer and steam this rice for 1-2 hours. Maybe less, maybe more, you can always check it if it's soft. You can take some and eat it. This is what I did, because I was hungry in the same time 5. Take it out and start pounding it with something. It will need quite a force. You must crush the rice grains and make a sticky mass. Work it with your hands.6. Next, you must stretch the product into a fine mass and let it dry. Cut it in small pieces to accelerate the drying. 7. Then dry, they will be rock hard. Now you must brake them in powder. Take a grocery bag, put some pieces inside and strike them with a hammer.8. Finally, you can put the small pieces/powder into a coffee grinder. DON'T put non crushed PIECES into your grinder, that's the way I broke my blade. Edited June 1, 2009 by 50AE
Pretty green flame
Heh, what you described is pure egoism....And if you hate socialism so much, better stop paying taxes this second, you did know that taxes are used to fund the infrastructure of a country? Which basicly means you give up a part of your oh so hard earned bread to the community and which is then used to make life more comfortable for your ungrateful ass. Welcome to socialism, enjoy Get over it, there not much difference betwen the system you live in now, and socialism... Once you kill someone in cold blood, your life is forfeit! 50AE
Sure, remember what you've said when you shoot someone as a Marine.... When shooting someone as a Marine, you're executing an order from a superior. It's not really your decision to kill someone, you don't always have a choice. The main killer is the one who gave the order. However, you can always kill someone by your decision. This is the difference.
