BigBang Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Wow Defiant, glad to see you back. I have wondered many a time where you went and have asked around, but know one seemed to know. Glad to see you back now do a bit o pyro So, my parents are letting me go to the Krelners Fireworks shoot in April. Is anyone planning to go or lives near pennsylvania? Would be nice to meet up with someone since I can't go to the PGI convention. And would anyone be willing to give me a ride to Florida because I'm not sure how I'll get back
justanotherpyro Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Finally I get a chance to use some of my 3" shells. Good times. I hate living in the city
BigBang Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 The city does suck. I don't get to do much unless I go out to the glades. Should do something this weekend. Anyways, I got bored today so I decided to do something. I thought....hmmm, what to do? Swany came to mind. I decided to track him down. I thought about how and it hit me, I could do psspspspsps (that doesn't mean a thing, I'm not saying how I did.) So I now have 2 phone numbers. I call and one isn't him(but related I think) so I try the last. What do you know, I get a message. It is a women. I then think, why not watch his fountain cato? So I do, and here that voice on the message yell his name. So I try back and viola, I got him. As Ron White might say "You caught the tater."
Swany Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 He called under the assumed ID of an ATF agent. I about shit myself, but I assumed it would come sooner or later. I had an idea it wasnt an ATF agent, because he blended ATF with his accent, and didn't give the name, just the ATF thingy. Then he went on to mention my illegal explosive devices, and then mentioned that the hypergolic pants did not fry his nuts. I had mentioned elsewhere that perhaps they had singed them. A nice talk ensued. In other news, I really dont know. I should do something, but I am feeling rather tired and lazy now.
justanotherpyro Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Fridays fun. 8 3" shells. I'm a new fan of glitters from home ground Al.
Pretty green flame Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Looking forvard to seeing those shells in action.Anyway what do you guys think of my new avatar, was the old one better?
justanotherpyro Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Yeah I think the old one was better. Schools cool. Choir tour, so I have lots of free time to do stuff like post here.
_DB_ Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 What kind of aluminum do you use and how do you grind it?
aquaman Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Anyway what do you guys think of my new avatar, was the old one better?I think I liked the older one too.
justanotherpyro Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 What kind of aluminum do you use and how do you grind it?I use Al foil torn into pieces about 4"X4". I have the 3lb harbor freight rubber drum. I use 3-4 quarter sized round media( large ) and a small handfull of wood screws. It will grind down the Al in a few hours with a few tiny chunks that won't pass through my screen.

aquaman Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 PGF, your original one was my favorite from the old forum. I spose your ground Al makes a very fast glitter? I think I need to try as I have the same tumbler. Heh, binary is fun!Binary is sweet. I didn't know that you could do that. It amazing on how that binary encoder thing works. BigBang how did you find that? 010010010010000001110100011010000110111101110101011001110110100001110100001000000111100101101111011101010010000001100011011011110111010101101100011001000110111000100111011101000010000001110101011100110110010100100000011100110110001101110010011001010111011101110011001000000110000101110011001000000110110101101001011011000110110001101001011011100110011100100000011011010110010101100100011010010110000100100000011000100110010101100011011000010111010101110011011001010010000001101001011101000010000001110111011001010110000101110010011100110010000001100001011101110110000101111001001000000110000101101110011001000010000001101001011101000010000001100011011011110110111001110100011000010110110101101001011011100110000101110100011001010111001100100000011101000110100001100101001000000100000101101100001011100000110100001010000011010000101001001001011100110010000001110100011010000110000101110100001000000111010001110010011101010110010100111111
BigBang Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 One of my nerd buddies sent it to me.....I actually did most of it myself. He then sends it and I am like FACK! Why have I been doing it the hard way?
justanotherpyro Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I use Al foil torn into pieces about 4"X4". I have the 3lb harbor freight rubber drum. Someone mentioned before that they ground down Al....I always wanted to try this but have no clue how! So what size screen and I may try this!My screen is a fine lint trap from an old industrial dryer. My guess is it is between 150 and 200 mesh. It is made out of a really tough material, and has suited my purposes for sifting chems together and seperating Al. http://www.apcforum.net/files/meshscreen.jpg I really like this method for getting Al. It takes a bit, and requires some diligence, but you can easily get a good ammount of unoxidised Al. Not really needing the drum gives it a perfect use for a constant source of very cheap Al.
aquaman Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Justanotherpyro you actually use srcrews? I thought that screws will contaminate the Al as they too get grinded.
optimus Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Happy Paddy's day everyone! Hope you're drinking Guinness and starting fights!
_DB_ Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 ^ I wish The only time I ever grinded down AL foil I used a blender full of water. I would just drop pieces of foil in and let her rip. One time I overloaded the blender and almost burnt the motor out, but overall it work quite nicely.
justanotherpyro Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 That method works allright. It makes a bunch of tiny little balls and then on top of it the Al is wet. Yes I use screws, and the contamination is negligible. They are the gold colored wood screws. All of the gold color is gone from them now, but they are still decently sharp.
asilentbob Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Thats some pretty nice work Po! I just found my portfolio/sketchpad bag, so i might upload some of my work. Mostly gestures though. You should get a deviantART account and share it with the world. As for pyro i attempted TNP from impure glowstick phenol, but i think the dyes reacted too reducing the yield of TNP (not even enough to make easily filtrerable crystals) and clumping together with some DNP in these big crumb looking masses. I have yet to filter, im holding back hoping that bigger crystals will form. Perhaps the dyes were nitrated and formed something useful? Doubtful. Anyways, thats about it.
RUUUUUN Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Has anyone ever had Black Powder detonate? I was perfuming my shed so I lit a clump of Bp about 1/2in across. I lit it, started to turn around, caught a flash out of the corner of my eye and then thought some one hit me. It didnt hit me much in the gut, I just couldn't hear and then my head wanted to implode. Then I heard the echos. my ears were ringing for a good 45 mins afterward. I had it set on a thin Tin metal plate and the plate got blown about 3 feet, and got dented. I am wondering if my jet lighter had anything to do with it, or if it is normal with cheap blender BP... I got away unscathed otherwise, rather lucky actually.
aquaman Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Since you are HE qualified I'm guessing that you have messed around with HE's. My guess is the BP didn't detonate but there was some kind of HE was lying around and the BP ignited the HE and then detonated it somehow. But, if you haven't messed around with HE's then your guess is mine.
asilentbob Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Yes i would have assumed that a blow like that would be caused by a nearby primary. V for Vendeta is a GREAT movie in the line of Equilibrium, The Matrix, Farenheight 451, 1984, and other similar books/movies. I STRONGLY recommend EVERYONE to see it.
justanotherpyro Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Can someone steer me in the right direction for a free downloadable movie editor? I have 56k though.
Spoony Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Personally, I use Blaze media pro, its pretty good, offers alot of options, and says you only get a short free trail, but you can still use it after the trail runs out. Linky: http://www.blazemp.com/ May take a while on your 56k though.
