I'm watching that's for sure... You know me and my old man were discussing something hypotetically. What IF Obama gets shot at his inauguration? I mean it only takes one bullet from a psychopath. I know there'a lot of cops and army and shit but I mean just being in a window far away, good high powered rifle and the guy is down. I know there's plenty of people that would rather see him dead than in the oval office...

So what IF? What would happen?

I graciously refrained from mentioning that. Honestly, it don't matter. It'll be on Youtube.

Really he's doomed to fail. The best he can do is slow the inevitable. well, IMHO anyway.

Don't get me wrong, I won't be watching just to see if he gets shot or not. This is history in the making, just like the elections, falling of the twin towers. It's history that my kids will read about in their history books.

I hate all the publicity around this event, who gives a fu**! He won't change anything, it pisses me off how most of the world now thinks that after obama was elected money will start flying from the sky and the economic crisis will be over, no such thing will happen. Time for a cold shower....

PGF it's exactly what I've been discussing with my dad. People think Obama is like a gift from God and he's gonna fix everything that got fucked up in the last few years. It ain't gonna happen, the guy is gonna need some SERIOUS help and praying and even then he won't make a dent in a stick of butter. The world economy is too fucked up right now, Obama won't make any difference in that!

At least he can't do any worse then the last guy did, that's why people think he is a gift from the gods. :D

Well you never know ;) I can see Obama turning into some "knight in shining armour" trying to be the good-guy. We don't need a good-guy right now, we need someone with a decent set of balls that's ready for making decisions he probably doesn't want to make. I don't know if Obama is the right candidate for that.

I wouldn't have thought he had enough experience to be the mayor of a decent-sized city, let alone the president of the whole country!

A lot of folks are in for a rude awakening, IMHO.

I tend to agree... however, reality is created by those observing, and acting on it. Who knows? If the people need a "messiah" and buckle down and get to it... well..I'm not counting on that tho.

One of his real strengths is what he learned from his many, many years as a "Community Organizer". There's no question that *HE* will be able to act in a bipartisan manner when it comes to tackling the real issues we face.

Whether the two parties in control of the 3-ring circus our government has become can cross party lines for the common good, remains to be seen. I suspect he will have a hard time getting them to kiss and make up, but if ANYONE has a chance of accomplishing that, I think he does. I think the next Senate electorial cycle, in the middle of his term, will be interesting as well. Obama claims he wants to end the "old ways". And for that to happen, there are a LOT of Senators, on BOTH sides of the aisle, that need to get voted the hell out of office.

We shall see what happens.....

I don't understand what Bush did really. If someone wants to shed light on it I'm more than willing to listen and to tell you what I think about your points.

He has taken the USA back a few hundred years in time. With the patriot act he broke the 4:th amendment:

"Amendment 4 - Search and Seizure. Ratified 12/15/1791.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

On Guantanamo Bay the 13:th is being neglected:

"Amendment 13 - Slavery Abolished. Ratified 12/6/1865. History

1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."

Hmmm, I was truly expecting something different. I applaud you defense. I don't know what else to say. I don't know much about Guantanamo Bay but I do understand the Patriot Act.

Looks like one of Obama's first acts is going to be closing Gitmo. Although I believe it needs far more oversight than it's had, I also think outright closing it is a mistake.

While there have been WAY too many embarassing or criminal incidents there, I don't think there's any denying that the overwhelming majority of the inmates there really *ARE* unrepentant and highly dangerous terrorists. And as far as I'm concerned, they can stay there and rot. Were I the Emperor Of The World, I'd have had them shot ages ago.

as much as i hate obama, that would be a very bad thing to have happen. we'll be very lucky to escape the next four years with our constitution and free market intact, if he catches a cap like a kennedy, we're all fucked. the animals will riot and 2009 will make the 60's look like the 50's. as broke and desperate as most of the country is right now if you give them an excuse to start looting and shooting a lot of them will take it. then it's all the "good guys" returning fire and it's all downhill from there.

like i said, as much as i hate obama, him getting shot now is probably the worst thing that can happen.

exactly

when people see what they've done, it's going to be hilarious. i've already had both of my neighbors ask me why i've inverted my flag out front, and i had to explain to them that we are now a nation in distress.

this "man" who was just elevated to the highest office in the land holds some very anti-American, unconstitutional, and anti-capitalistic ideals.

the results of the last election is a prime example of why our economy is such shit right now. people have this sense of entitlement and hatred for people who have earned their own way in life. attitudes like this have led to a veritable cournicopia of fucked policy that is ripping this country apart.

forcing banks to make risky loans, bailing out failed companies, defunct and corrupt welfare system, out of control taxation (to support all this crap), affirmative action, increased capital gains, expanding the graduated tax system, preaching socialism in public schools, revisionist history, the fall of American industry, record personal debt...

we need to get our heads back on straight, but instead, we just nominated the poster child for most of what i just mentioned.

it's disgusting to see an admitted socialist placing his hand on the bible and being sworn in as president of this formally great nation.

don't get me wrong, bush wasn't exactly perfect, but i'd take another bush before i took mccain or obama.

TBH, when i walked in that voting booth, i placed my finger over the mccain button, looked away, pressed firmly, then choked back the vomit.

it's a real shame when the two choices for president are both right out of an ayn rand novel.

for those who haven't yet, read atlas shrugged. it's spooky how prophetic that book was, and even more so if you consider the public opinion at the time the book was written. writing a book 50 years ago about what is happening today was enough for people to think she was insane. yet everything (even the pirates) is coming to pass and the obamatologists just smile with glee and TLS (tingly leg syndrome).

makes me sick.

oh...and Keith Olberman can go fuck himself. i hope he dies in a firey car crash.
