Chris
I got myself 600meters of 6cm wide gummed paper tape, I need 3cm wide strips of tape to paste shells, does anyone have any ideas ho to cut the whole spool in half? I see no way You can take two approaches to that. First option is to split the spool in two with an electric bandsaw. An easy method if you have access to one. The other option is to build a jig that holds a sharp razor to slice the strip as it runs through. If you have a Passfire account, look at the gummed tape dispenser and imagine a blade in the midle with the strip running 'through' . You will also need guides on both sides of the blade to keep the strip correctly aligned. I did a similar setup and it worked well. I rarely use it anymore, because I can buy narrower spools now. Pretty green flame
Thanks chris, I got my jig saw and tried cutting a couple meter strip, rolled up, and it worked really well. Now I can go paste my 6" shells I'll see how the band saw fairs when i get to my workshop. Thanks for the help
Bonny
Could you use a band saw? As long as the blade is quite fine the bandsaw may do a reasonable job. Commercially, most tapes etc are slit on different type of slitters. The passfire dispenser idea that Chris mentioned would be the easiest home set up. That's what I'll do if I use gummed tape when I start making some shells this spring.
Mumbles
I was actually considering doing this with 1.5" or 1.25" tape to get a tape thin enough to paste in 3" ball shells, which is about the smallest I'd need to go in ball form anymore. I'd probably just make a little jig and toss them on a drill press and away she goes.

I'd probably just make a little jig and toss them on a drill press and away she goes. Sounds like a great idea. A simple unwind stand, a horizontal razor blade and rewind onto whatever. As long as it unwinds straight so the width stays reasonably consistent. I've got lots of 1, 2 and maybe 3" gummed tape around as one division of where I work is a packaging/shipping supply company. asilentbob
Anyone know a good acurate way to measure extremely low temperatures? I was thinking like a thermocouple in a multimeter perhaps... but im not really sure how to set that up... By low i mean like... -80 C and below... perhaps even LN2 temperatures... Edit:Mumbles and I were thinking something along the lines of measuring the resistance of a teflon shielded wire with the multimeter and graphing resistance vs. temperature at various temperatures and trying to extrapolate with a linear or non-linear equation that satisfies the points... I can only go to around 0-100C accuratly though as is... and well a bit higher temp perhaps if i have a thermometer that can do it... but none of mine go below O C as far as i know. So extrapolation to like -100 would probably be quite a bit off... and if at all possible id love to be able to measure MUCH lower than that... I might be able to use the school lab equipment to calibrate to lower and higher temperatures... but i doubt below about -40 C... higher probably up to 200 C or so... And of course all the while not shelling out any monies if at all possible...

As some of you know I have a friend that builds missiles for a living and he "plays" w/ liquid He to make heat sensitive missiles or heat locking missiles. So they need a way to measure the temperature of it so tonight at church I'll talk to him about it and get back to you. BTW, I might be wrong, but I don't think you got an answer of how to fix your problem.

Guest Mark_the_pyro
Yeah I was just about to post that, I'm speechless.... For those who don't have membership to roguesci.... http://cbs13.com/local/sacramento.crime.flee.2.640215.html http://www.freedominion.com/phpBB2/viewtop...64e2ca0193f6391 http://llnw.image.cbslocal.com/175x131/1206_ARTHUR_CHARLES_CARNES_.jpgArthur Charles Carnes, otherwise known as our friend NBK. While I am very happy that he is alive, it is terrible how he is in prison, and wanted for murder. Christopher Rempel, or Chris the Great if you prefer, anything you want to share with The Forum? Imagine my surprise when I received a phone call from an attorney today who claimed to be representing Ned Kelly, aka nbk2000, who is apparently alive and well, but in a Canadian prison no thanks to you. Very clever telling the Canadian fedgov that the drug making chemicals and machine gun were Ned’s. I do have one question though, how did he get all those chemicals clear up to Canada on foot, and only your fingerprints are on the weapon? No harm no foul I suppose, the police bought your families sob story about not knowing you were harboring a fugitive, and a wanted murderer does make a convenient scapegoat. I am sure by now anyone that has not searched google news should do so because I did, and I am a little bewildered. Our dear friend Ned Kelly, or nbk2000 if you prefer, is actually suspected of killing his very good friend and employer for reasons even the cops don’t think add up. At least if you by the half truths of the media… I have read about ten different versions of what Ned has been accused of. I apologize, I guess Ned’s real name is actually Arthur Charles Carnes. Being an ex con, Ned has been tried and convicted by the police and media already. How easy justice is when you make up the facts to fit as you go along. I hear the departed, one Matthew Seybert, was actually a drug dealer with many enemies who wanted him dead. Seybert was an ex con too. Ned, facing the possibility of a third strike, mandatory 25 years in prison for ANY crime, fled for his life. I spoke to Ned from prison tonight. The lawyer called me to arrange for a collect call. Ned, Arthur, is fighting for his life to prevent being extradited from Canada. The Canadians won’t give him up, yet. Ned will be dead in about two years due to his heart troubles, he informed me tonight. It could take a few years for this extradition trial to be completed. Ned says he is quite happy in the Canadian prison, he never expects to get out before he dies, but Canada is far superior to a US prison. The police stole all of Ned’s money when they arrested him, some $1500, mysteriously not logged to evidence. Imagine that. The attorney asked if I would send along $25 so that Ned can at least buy stamps to send me a letter. I shudder to think how much the collect call from Canada cost me tonight. Ned said he does not mind if I tell everyone who he really is. He will not live much longer, he is fighting for his survival for a crime he did not commit, he is battling corrupt police, and he wants your support. I imagine many of you will be appalled and disgusted at what they claim Ned, Arthur, did. None of this adds up. Ned ran because even a traffic ticket would be a death sentence for him now. With only a few short years left to live, and a mandatory third strike incarceration of 25 years for any charge, what hope does an ex con have? His only option was to run and live out the rest of his life on his own terms. This is unfortunate and terrible news. I knew Ned was in bad health, but I never expected anything like this. That the real murderer is roaming the streets of Galt knowing another is taking the heat for him is the greatest tragedy in this drama. Please do not direct any questions my way as I am still getting up to speed myself, at this point I only know what I read in the online newspapers, half of which is contradictory. I only spoke to Ned for about 15 minutes before the time limit ran out, so he was able to clear up a few of the media falsehoods. Ned maintains Christopher Rempel is tied to all this somehow. I hope you will also have the good sense to not bother the attorney appointed to the case. Ned told me he is quite happy with the man, he seems skilled. In Canada you choose the lawyer and the government pays the tab. The lawyer has work to do and I doubt he will discuss his client to anyone not authorized by Ned. I only spoke to the attorney long enough to confirm a number where I can be reached collect, and I was given an address where Ned can be reached by mail. I have his address here… Keep in mind I was told all letters and communications are read by the fedgov, so don’t do something stupid like hatch an escape plot. I may have mangled this address since I am not familiar with the format of Canadian addresses. I will verify this when next I speak to Ned or his attorney: North Fraser Pretrial Centre1451 Kingsway AvenuePort CoquitlamBritish Columbia, CanadaV3C 1S2Arthur CarnesCS No. 06361190
mormanman
Since I can't do pyrotechnics anymore really my mom bought me a model rocket. Its pretty funny what I'm doing to it. Its a Baby Bertha by Estes and the engines that are recommended are A8-3, B4-, B6-4 and C6-5. I decided to modify it to fit a E9-4. The rocket is 12.75"x 1.64". It weighs 2.1 oz (unmodified). I think its pretty funny and my mom is fine with it.

WarezWally
Doesn't make sense to me, I cant imagine him killing someone like that and just dumping the body in a creek. hst45
The oddest thing for me is using a missing/dead guys ATM card. That's drawing a line of your movements, not the actions of a savvy person wishing to leave no trace. It just doesn't add up. I'm sure there's more to the story. WarezWally
Whats with the USA's crazy drinking laws? I saw a thing where the cops arrested some 17yr olds for having a few beers.... what gives? Its even more sucky that you have to be 21, must suck for the young tourists there. Why are they so crazy about it? Here, underage drinking is normal and is to be expected. The worst a cop would do is tip your drink out and tell you to move on. Although I think our PM was having a winge about it which probably means that alcohol taxes are going to go up. Even more motivation to make a still, getting sick of paying so much tax.
InRainbows
it usually depends on the cop, but the laws are quite strict. It's usually not the laws, it just depends on the cop and what kind of day he's been having.

Clearly some of you have not lost anyone yet to a drunk driver--or had a loved one beaten to death by teenagers who "just had a few beers." Only a matter of time. ULTRABUF
The drinking laws are pretty gay. Its happened several times around here that a foreign exchange student will throw a party or get caught drinking and they will be sent home. Just happened about a week ago actually. asilentbob
Thats why politics sucks so much... Just because some people are irresponcible asshats doesn't mean all of them are... but when there is public outcry like that from a few, we ALL lose freedoms... Theres been drunk driving... People huffing aerosols... drug overdoses... People jumping infrount of cars...etc... If only breathalysers came in car as standard... Spent a couple hours informing people... of CoS... tired now. mormanman
Its b/c we are in a victimized society. Thats why people always say we're liable for this and that, your parents will sue(you'll sue). Which is true in some cases, people don't to take responsibility for there own mistakes anymore. Some people need to grow a pair and suck it up and take it. If they did it its there own God damn fault with no one else involved. No one likes negative consequences but people will always dish it out and the ones that dish it out can't take it. I'm not trying to accuse anyone of this but most everyone has done this and if you don't admit it your are in that same general category.(I'm not pointing fingers and no one else should either.) On another note, I got my court date. If anyone wants to come down to Fort Worth and come to court its on May 13, 2008, at 3:00 pm. I invite you all Wish me luck. DeAdFX
Has anybody bought cadmium from PK unlimited 6 lbs for 60USD? The reason I ask is because I am curious about the quality of the material. A lot of people who bought their aluminum powder were very disappointed by the lack of quality. That is the cheapest source of the metal(cadmium) I know of and I can get a guaranteed 100% quality from a different seller but at 2X the cost.
