TheSidewinder Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Barium Perchlorate? I'm almost certain it is. I know for sure that Barium CHLORATE is. I'd like to know the answer to this as well.
mormanman Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Would Baryum perchlorate be any use in pyro? becaue I can have it for 6E/kg... I'm not sure but I would love to have some just to say I do and experiment with it. I would say buy a Kg and just "play" with it. BTW, I looked on skylighter and they don't sell it and look it up on google with nothing too. Maybe, just a guess like always, you could make like a green flash powder. Might be fun to see. (11:49 Central Time)- Answer For what its used for I don't know.

Frozentech Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Would Baryum perchlorate be any use in pyro? becaue I can have it for 6E/kg... Not likely to be useful, as it's deliquescent. Evidently it was used in the past as a dessicant similar to Damp-Rid.
oskarchem Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Ah, ok thanks for your awnsers, I will get some. It is a Liter and not Kg, because it is a solution. So I will try to recristalise it.

asilentbob Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Been busy with school and various projects... In other news yesterday, Sunday the 10th of February Anonymous protested The Church of Scientology worldwide. Many cities all over the us had impressive turnouts. As did ones in Europe and Austrailia. I think there was even about 4 people protesting in Alaska. And 1 in Tokyo (wtf? i know...)... While those numbers i have given aren't impressive... 9000 is. Greater than 9000 have taken up the cause. They are from all religions and walks of life with a common goal. Around 200 people protested in Austin, TX, sadly I didn't get up early enough due to a bit of a spurious stickcam "we are bored lets get shitfaced party," last night. I only got the drive to learn a bit more about it saturday evening. I HIGHLY recommend everyone look into it. What is Scientology?http://www.xenu.net/roland-intro.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiQcKbiGqy4http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/PROJECT_CHANOLOGYhttp://www.xenu.net/Chances are you will see or have seen something on this event in the news. Alternatly YouTube has hundreds and hundreds of videos on everything from scientology from a scientologist perspective, anonymous address to scientology, short explainations of people and their families that have been hurt by scientology, and videos are continually coming in from the various protests around the world. Flickr has also seen MANY more photos uploaded. Some videos I'd recommend:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCGP-0545EU (I could go on and on... I have spent the better part of the day watching related youtube vids) Next global protest date is scheduled for March, 15. If your interested in finding or creating a protest group in your area:http://harbl.wetfish.net/cosplay/(4,560 people have registered at this site... and thats not including everyone. Many simply show up or forgo the site entirely and make plans over IRC)EDIT: This site has a very cool Google maps map that has approximate pin points all over for where Scientology Churches are, Protesters are, and pre-protest meeting events are planned to be held. Zoom in to see many many more. I recommend looking over the map a bit and seeing about how many are in your area. Keep in mind most people don't know about this. Yet. The media are spreading the word. Don't be too surprised if you happen to be walking around town and run into some flyers. By the way... By making this post Scientologists would class me as an "SP" and apply their "Fair Game" harassment policy. Not very nice huh? http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/Image...u_33835_USD.jpg
WarezWally Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Had 2 mates go to the Sydney one, they had fun

Bonny Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 On a completely random note: Happy Birthday, Bonny! TheSidewinder Thanks Sidewinder. I'm kinda curious as to what the age breakdown on this forum is?
TheSidewinder Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 A fairly broad range, I think, but I don't know. I'm nearly 53.
jacob Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Heres something neat I just found, more retro video games then you can shake a stick at.
asilentbob Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 For anyone who wished to know... Dry ice / acetone will freeze a poblano pepper straight out of the refridgerator to sounding like ceramic and shattering when dropped in about 20 seconds... Who needs LN2?
Mumbles Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I would imagine they are reasonably full of water, and of course salts. Getting to -20C would probably do the trick without having to get to -100C which is around the limit of dry ice/acetone I believe.
50AE Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Do you guys know any way to make a slow burning BP ? I need to make a slower blackmatch. I don't have much chemicals, so maybe the addition of a easy to find chemical in my meal powder will do, or changing the ratio of the BP ?
Pretty green flame Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Don't add anything, just change the ratio or more preferably don't mill it for so long, if your starting materials are already finely powdered then a quick mill, so the chems are mixed together, will be quite enough.
50AE Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Ok, I tried to add some more fuel (charcoal) to the meal, I've let my BM fuses to dry now. I'll tell you later if it worked.
