crazyboy25 Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I can't figure out how to download it off that site, I don't see a download button anywhere.you have to enter the numbers/letters it tells you then scroll down wait and click download ok i finally manged (with compressing and converting with VirtualDub) to put MY video on youtube quality isn't great but what the hell.
Mumbles Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Ok guys, seriously, settle this like mature adults you are or may someday become. The way I see it, neither of you are completely innocent in this case. Warezwally: I think it is best if you honor crazyboy's request to remove the video, or at least give him credit. He spent the time to compile it, and at least deserves the regongition for that. On a side note, the version he uploaded to youtube is of better quality anyway. Crazyboy: Settle down. Warezwally had good initial intentions of wanting to get it out to people. All you had to do was calmly ask him to remove it, and he likely would have. People are much less responsive to aggressive behaviors when trying to get them to do something. Asking instead of demanding is the general way to go about it. With this being said, please take it to private messaging/e-mail. I don't want to see 3 pages of you guys arguing. I hope you guys have had time to calm down and can now come to a reasonable solution.
asilentbob Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Done pretty well! Perhaps we should have a section of the site (a sticky in the pyro section?) devoted to submitting movies expressly for annual APC movies? IE all the movies you want to be in a 07 movie would be submitted in the thread before new years eve this year. (deadline would be stretched to get in all the good new years stuff) Then it would be made and posted to where ever. Then movies would start to be submitted for 08 in a new thread or something. Basically make a movie like that but with the videos submitted by the individual owners who made whatever fireworks during that year (and new years). And do this for every year. So? What are your thoughts on starting a "2007 APC Videos (for annual compilation)" sticky thread? *All the videos would be in one place, no digging through tons of threads.*You would have the permission to use the video because it was posted in the thread for the express purpose of being used (by its creator and only by its creator).*It could show the year to year progress of members of the forum since every year it would be completely new content.*Better sense of unity?
Mumbles Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Sounds like a plan. Remind me after the 1st of the year. I like the every year thing. Don't be afraid to put in pictures either. If I had known crazyboy was going to put in some serious work on this, I would have hooked him up with access to the filehost.
WarezWally Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 1. i do own the movie i created it with full permission from the creators of the original videos and if any of them asked that their video be removed i would. 2. i BOUGHT the song from dragonforce. 3. you did steal it 4. im not trying to be hostile im angry that you took my video without my permission gave me zero credit and refuse to take it down when i ask. look im not asking for much all im asking is you remove a video that is mine thats all.1. You still do not own the movie, and i doubt you asked everyone for their permission. 2. Doesn't matter if you purchased the song, your still infringing the record labels copyright. 3. I didn't steal anything, at worst i "potentially" infringed someones copyright. 4. You were hostile, you came at me full on. For future reference a email or private message explaining your situation without making unfounded claims of theft will get the job done much quicker. If you had privately contacted me and not decided to call me a thief and been more understanding then I would have removed the video without any qualms. I have plenty more to say but ill keep it to myself. Im sorry if my good intentions caused you any greif. I will remove the video. Lets leave it here and move on, if you have any further issues feel free to send me a PM.
pudidotdk Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Won a leatherman Juice S2 from instructables.com in a "Launch it!" contest: http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/4397/dsc01889rs9.jpghttp://img166.imageshack.us/img166/1448/dsc01890eh0.jpg Custom laser-engraved
NightHawkInLight Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Pretty cool instructable man, it was very well organized. Convenient you had already done almost all of the work for pyroguide. Nice knife by the way.
asilentbob Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Instructables.com had a booth at the Maker Faire that i went to last saturday... The girl there asked me if i knew of the site and i said that i had been there several times. Then she asked me what my favorite one was. Thoughts of how many articles shouldn't be there like the m-80 ones flashed through my mind and i politely said i didn't know and walked away restraining myself from lecturing her on how many articles seriously shouldn't be there and why... I'm pretty sure i have seen a couple of yours and you do no wrong to hobby pyrotechnics Congratulations! And i messaged myself Mumbles so i should remember about the annual video thing.
hst45 Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 A "bloopers reel" might be fun too. I'm thinking the inevitable rocket CATO's, the areal shell over a pond with the looonnnnng time fuse that ends up as a depth charge, the pinwheel that become mobile, the rocket-turned-cruise-missile, etc. We should probable NOT include anything that inadvertently had a potential destructive effect so that we don't portray ourselves as dangerous. Anyway, it might be good for a laugh.
mormanman Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Nice knife.Does anyone want to help me buy something. You have to be 18+ or your parents will help.PM me if your interested. Thanks.

pudidotdk Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Happy birhtday to me!Yay, 16 years! It is now legal for me to buy alcohol
flying fish Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Haha, that's awesome. In the US you have to be 21 (which happens to be my age). My roomate from college was supposed to take me out drinking on my birthday, but we were both away at our internships (not because we are overachievers, but because my college requires it - the internship I mean, not the drinking). Edit...Forgot to say...Happy Birthday pudidotdk!
hst45 Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 my college requires it - the internship I mean, not the drinking).LOL, I think you had it right the first time; College REQUIRES drinking! I've been out of school for about 1200 years now but that's the way I remember it. My post-graduate study has proceeded in the same vein; I've been the sole subject in an independent research project to see if a white male can survive solely on a thin slurry of barley, hops, and water. Results pending....... "Honey, get me a beer.. uh...a research tool..." She JUST doesn't understand the scientific *hic* mind. I dunno whaz the matter with the *hic* bitch..she juss dosenn apreciate the *hic* sacraffisse that I makke for scienc................... SNORE...............
crazyboy25 Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 ok i have remade my heli to look like peoples pictures please tell me if the angles and prop positions are good. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w318/cr...25/100_0858.jpghttp://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w318/cr...25/100_0859.jpghttp://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w318/cr...25/100_0857.jpghttp://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w318/cr...25/100_0860.jpg one more thing this is my lift powder i think its mediocre/crap tell me what you think i dont really have much to compare to BTW its 1 gram http://s179.photobucket.com/albums/w318/cr...nt=100_0855.flv
Mumbles Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Helicopter looks good, and the lift look fine. It should lift anything you have without issue. I feel your pain hst. Between the "research tools" and the fully stocked lab I keep in the basement, the ladies just never understand the sacrafices I make for science. The ones who arn't imediately scared away usually end up being the crazies anyway. I'm very jealous by the way pudi. Damn US laws.
deadman Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Congrats. Guess what? Today is my little brother's 16th birthday. What a crazy world it is.
crazyboy25 Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 i know this may sound like a stupid question because you said my lift was good but do you think 30 grams of it would be acceptable for lifting a 300g 4" aerial shell right now im using more in the neighborhood of 50-60 grams because by comparison mine looked like crap.
asilentbob Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Mumbles:The ones who arn't imediately scared away usually end up being the crazies anyway. I loled. So true.
Mumbles Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 A dummy shell is the best way to test crazyboy. If not, it's hard to over do it without deliberately trying. You jhave to use an extreme excess, like 100g or more to really have issues with over lifting. With commercial lift I usually use around 35g for ball shells, and 45g for canister shells of the 4" variety. And yes ASB, I do have a problem with the crazies. I'm not claiming perfect sanity myself, but for some reason the crazies like me. Usually I get bored with them though as they are constantly bat shit insane, instead of just randomly insane which keeps it interesting.
Mumbles Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Not that I want to brag or anything, but I got Pyrotechnica 7-14 recently. (well maybe a little) I was just wondering if they should all be photocopies, or if originals are still normally available of them. All the ones I have are photo copies, and not that great actually.
oskarchem Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Hi, Anyone know how I could make some SGRS???since I live in the parto of the world (France) where binders need to be lokked for... Thanks
Mumbles Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 There are two things to try. Firstly, get some rice starch, and cook it like dextrin. I don't think this is the normal method though. I believe they cook rice starch or rice flour in boiling water like you would if you were going to make wheat flour paste. After you get the right goo, you then dry it out, and voila. Here is the proceedure from FAST by shimizu. It appears to start from straight rice instead of rice powers or starches. "Glutinous rice ispolished and soaked in cold water for a week. This is then steamed ina steam basket and pounded into a cohesive mass. The mass is stretchedinto a thin plate like a squashed cake, which is parched at a suitabletemperature. The parched cake is ground into a fine powder. The powderis somewhat brownish, but has a large cohesion power and is perfectlygelatinized in combination with water. This is the most useful bindingagent for firework stars." Rice is normally purchased polished. It essentially means cleaned up and stuff. White rice or pearled rice are pre-polished. So pretty much what I got was to soak the rice for a week, filter it out with a window screen or something, and steam it. This has the same effect as boiling the mixture of flour and water to make wheat paste, but it gives less water to remove. I'd imagine something could be rigged up fairly easily. This is then cooked rice essentially, and relatively soft and able to be kneeded and packed into a solid cake where it could be spread out and probably cooked exactly like dextrin. Given this interpretation, and if available, starting with rice flour or rice starch, and just cooking like dextrin or wheat paste may be an acceptable proceedure. Please do try it out and let us know.
tentacles Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Glutinous rice isn't the same as "regular" long grain rice. I'd suggest picking up some glutinous rice flour, and trying that straight up in a small batch. I've heard it works great and the SGRS I got from skylighter has the same bright white color and light fluffy consistency. It's cheap, too, like $1/lb at an asian market. Glutinous rice is also known as sticky, or sweet, rice.
oskarchem Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 thanks for the info PS: tentacles I don't live in the US so there are no asian markets around.... and the only glutinus rice I can get is ; "Uncle Bens" lol
