It's not that you can't store it. You are perfectly legal to store, it just must be in an approved magazine. Another stumbling block comes in the form of process buildings. This is generally where they will get you. Your basement is rarely a legal processing building.

So, if you work in a legal process building, and have legal storage you are good to go.

unfortunately a magazine is out of the questionm for me but is that all? no interviews/test or anything i know there is a price and you must document correct?

If you actually want an ATFE license you need a proper magazine for what you are constructing\storing... Either a mobile\stationary LE\HE magazine...

It's not really that serious though... they considered a plywood reinforced steel toolbox as a mobile HE magazine... so anything decently strong is fine...

ATFE license cost about $140 for the first test if I remember, plus $100 annually for renewal...

There are more rules than that for storing. For instance, I couldn't store where I live since I'm right next to a school and I-78

I was wondering...During the interview for a lisence, the ATF might ask where you got your experience with pyrotechnics...and in the process of telling them the truth you might incriminate yourself.

If this happens, could they use this as a reason to refuse you a lisence?

Maybe it would be best to work under a lisenced person before applying, so that you have a legitamate story to tell them?

On a completely unrelated note, I found this youtube thread hilarious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K70JzbIgVIE , and since I had nothing better to do today, I posted a response to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SI2YZV4K8I

Haha, I should have probably just showed a cup burning green with methyl borate, and then said "hmm, apparently NiCad batteries make green..."

i doubt they would ask where you got experience after all the idea is to get experience legally (with a liscence) or you could say you read books and the internet.

flying fish, welcome to the club! I'm a kindred spirit who understands the fine points of paranoiac entrapment! Yes, ANYTHING you say, post, write, record, or download can potentially be used against you.

hst45's rules for living:

Never write when you can speak

Never speak when you can nod

Never nod when you can wink.

I stole these from a talk show host by the way, so you can't blame them on me......

All paranoid bullshit aside, it's good to keep in mind that you need to be honest when dealing with the authorities since they will break your balls if they find out you lied to them, but don't volunteer too much information.

Example:

"I've made black powder rocket motors before. I'm an amateur rocketeer." No problem.

"I make black powder rockets with M-80 headers and shoot them at cop cars on Halloween." Problem.

Obviously, nobody is stupid enough to make statement #2, but just run the possible impression that the authorities will have through your head before volunteering yourself for a vacation in the greybar hotel.

This maybe a stupid question but I saw this video on myspace and this guy lit water on fire. Is that even possible? I noticed it burned a little bit like alcohol.

I also watched that video. It's pretty obvious it's alcohol, it would be more convincing if he tried to light it before putting the batteries in, and then after. Even then it would be quite easy to edit two clips together.

Hooray for dragonforce

Ill throw it on youtube

You can't do that...

#1. It's 167MB, you'd have to put it on in parts, and thats not good...

#2. You didn't make it so you can't legally put it on there... Whoever made it really deserves credit anyway...

1. You don't own the video, the videos are not yours in the first place. If i went and chopped up a movie that doesn't make it mine does it?

2. You 'stole' a song from dragonforce so don't talk to me about 'stealing'

3. I dont like being told im a thief

4. Video stays, maybe if you wernt so hostile about it i would be more accommodating

I'm in favor of it being on youtube even if it is broken up, that other file host is harder to use, you two should work something out, wally, you should make it clear in the description, that members of the forum made the individual clips, and that crazyboy put them together, just my two cents, heck, we might even get some more members from it. (in the meantime, what's the video title, i can't find it).
