Is anyone having trouble accessing rec.pyrotechnics?

You're not alone..Good thing I don't read it much. I mostly use it as a searchable database to skip the flames, Joe Smith posts, and apoplectic, self-righteous rants.

Sucks that it's full of trash now. I hope the spammers do not manage to flood this board any worse than they do now.

I wouldn't even have known what you guys were talking about. Thunderbird;s newsreader doesn't pick that up, nor does my linux newsreader. I saw a few posts talking about some "sporging" attack, but not the actual spam crap.

[edit] On 2nd thought, it must be my newsfeed that is filtering it out.

I still get the same trash regardless if I use google or my ISP's newsfeed.

So far it looks as if 3,842 spam messages have been posted to rec.pyro in the last day.

Edit: I can't even search the rec.pyro archive, it times out or I will get pages full of sporgery instead of any sensible result.

Searched for posts by joseph Brown, does not look like a spammer, though.

The spam appears to have stopped, for now atleast. I'm able to search rec.pyrotechnics again, but there is still ~4000 sporgeries jumbled up in there too.

Edit: I spoke too soon. The spam continues

Please take a couple of hours off and have a read through the "Concerned" comic. It's based on the game Half life 2 and is mighty funny

There are over 200 issues so make sure you've got an hour or two to spare.

I have a question about ratios and I don't think that researching will help b/c I did look and I got two different answers.

So my question is which of the two ratios is correct :

Black powder (maybe be #1)

Kno3 75

C 15

S 10

Black powder (maybe #2)

Kno3 75

C 10

S 15

B/c I have made some pine charcoal bp with the #2 ratio that I listed and it already works better than the newspaper bp (but the newspaper bp has only been milling for about 6-9 hours). On thegreenman.me.uk says that #1 that I had listed is correct and a video on youtube agrees but asilentbob (when ever I first was getting started) said #2.

Can someone help me I'm rather confused?

Tis #1. I make that mistake ocassionally. I probably wrote it originally as 75:15:10 KNO3/S/C instead of KNO3/C/S...

I'm going to have extremely limited internet access for another week or so...

Just getting settled into my new house (no internet yet), working, school stuff, and projects...

I live in Tarrent county where the people are so anal that they'll call the cops for a spark. So no backyard fires. I can only test starmines in my backyard at 2 in the morning it really blows.

Yeah, Texas has lots of big open uninhabited spaces... with more dry grass than you've ever seen before..
