jerronimo Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Freakydutchman is right this is exactly what I do when I notice the stars are beginning to get bumpy.I've got a separate spray bottle with 50/50 water/methanol, really get the stars quite wet and let the starroller run for about 15 min without adding any powder.
GraafVaag Posted December 26, 2008 Author Posted December 26, 2008 FDM, I used regular 85% cheap alcohol. It took the 12mm stars about 2 full days in the (cool air) star dryer to be rock hard. Could shoot one after one day though.
rev.redneck Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 May I ask, What is the big deal if they are a little bumpy? I roll stars just fine, I found its about patience, not bumpy but not perfect round either.
psyco_1322 Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 I''m not sure why you people complain about excess comp stuck in the bottom of the bucket, as long as you plan ahead for it, making enough comp. I like when I get to scrape out a bunch of lightly dampened comp. Its goes straight to a star pump and is pumped into comets for rising tails, rings, etc. Its the little extra something at the bottom of the jar
FREAKYDUTCHMEN Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 I'd rather roll everything into stars, most of the time the compo that sticks on the wall is too damp to pump. There's no problem with bumpy stars when they are finished, most of the time I even try to get them bumpy. When they are let's say 6mm I can't roll them up to 20mm, and certainly not when I'm rolling collor changing stars.
