gunner1 Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Ok, first off let me say that if this is off base please delete- I'll understand. I've been reading alot of posts here and on the old forum about people mixing and using their comp's as needed and not storing them due to the fact that they will break down. I was wondering what if you vacuum sealed tham? This would keep moisture and air out thus preventing chemical breakdown, correct? You could even double vacuum them by doing the first bag, then putting that bag into another bag and vacuum sealing that. Just a thought.
TheSidewinder Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Assuming the comps are dry, hermetically sealing them would extend their life. But it would be an added cost, and sometimes a big one, to an already-expensive mix.
tentacles Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 I personally wouldn't vacuum BAG, I see potential safety risks in that. Vacuum jars/canisters would be fine, though.. I have a few chems in mason jars under vacuum. No particular reason, though. The bags would be a problem because you've got ~14.5 PSI of pressure on the comp, and the comp can still move around (ie handling). Pressure + movement, multiplied by extra friction (air has a lubricating/cooling effect).... could be bad news, especially with comps with metal.
