The-T Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Where could I buy Aluminium -325 mesh spherical or some similair? Any online stores that sell it? I just cant find it!
tentacles Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 This is a very easy to find product, have you looked through the supplier reviews? Or the Agora? Try Skylighter if you're not willing to search, I know there are several places in the supplier reviews with lower prices, but it seems to me like you haven't even started to look yet.
The-T Posted August 19, 2008 Author Posted August 19, 2008 (edited) Well i havent looked much actually, But thanks for the info, I'll take a look. Edited August 19, 2008 by The-T
parkerthepyro Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 I knew it! Aluminum is pretty easy to come by, in the U.S. anyways. It's just a matter of taking a look. But here are a few sites that may help you:skylighter.comcheap-chemicals.com (google it, not sure of exact html)and many many more...Or you could take the alternative route and make it yourself as I did when I first needed it
Mumbles Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Making your own Al is really only suitible for two things. A very coarse large flake firefly type of Al, and flash grade Al. He's not interested in flash powder, or so it seems. If you have a boating shop around they may carry it. It is West Systems #420. It's marketed as an epoxy filler, but the perfect size and shape for glitter. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/store...mp;ci_sku=28514 Kinda expensive there, but I've seen it down around $7 elsewhere, thought that was a while ago. I have some of this. EXCELLENT stuff. http://cgi.ebay.com/5-Pounds-Atomized-Alum...id=p3286.c0.m14

I bought 10 pounds of it along with some Fe2O3.I haven't had a chance to try either of them.
Yankie Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I find the best and often cheapest sources are ceramics/pottery/craft stores. It is used in cold casting (which is where an epoxy glue is mixed with the Al powder and poured into a mould to give the effect of a solid metal sculpture.) The mesh size varies from 200-300 mesh and are generally atomized, although some is granular, If you are using this for glitter stars all of those will work. Also another much cheaper source is a metal powder supplier, No doubt there is one where you live but if you cant find one and dont mind shipping it overseas AMPS is a great supplier. 2.5kg of 200 mesh granular Al powder cost me $40AuD plus $10 postage. Hope this helps
