moonshot Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 This header design is based on combining a cardboard can and a cone cup cone along with my patented cardboard washer to build a rocket header. As always this design can be scaled up to larger rocket tubes. You will need a rocket motor, short piece of toilet paper tube for the can part and a paper cone cup for the cone.http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m314/di.../Picture165.jpgSee my cannister head rocket build on how to make the cardboard washer and cut the tabs on the cardboard can. Glue the washer on the top of the motor.http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m314/di.../Picture166.jpgthen make the cone by cutting from the base to the tip of a cone cup and rolling it inside itself so the can just fits into the base of the cone and glue the overlapping edge. Once the glue has set up glue the cone to the can.http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m314/di.../Picture167.jpgThis pic shows how the motor fits into the bottom of the header.http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m314/di.../Picture169.jpghere is how I load this header. First some stars then some rice crispies burst.http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m314/di.../Picture171.jpghttp://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m314/di.../Picture172.jpgThen more stars and burst.http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m314/di.../Picture173.jpghttp://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m314/di.../Picture175.jpgAt this time I add some FFFg black powder to help the break but some whistle mix would be kick ass. Finish filling the header with stars and burst.Press the motor into the header add glue to the tabs and fold them over to seal the header to the rocket.http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m314/di...icture163-1.jpgHere are some finished rockets.http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m314/di...icture177-1.jpg
Pretty green flame Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Looks good, though a stronger burst would probably be needed for a good spread, whistle as you said or flash, the latter would be my choice. A small ammount of flash in a flashbag would be perfectly suited for this type of header. Good job on the construction, hope to see a video how they perform.
derekroolz Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Damn those things look like RPG's hope they work well.
dagabu Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Damn those things look like RPG's hope they work well. I really appreciate the kraft applied to the whole rocket including the stick and nose cone. Very nice. BTW- since these are "Patented" can I have permission to make some for myself? I don't think flash is good unless you use 325 mesh Al but I bet whistle would work fine for the break. D
