TheSidewinder Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 The new Software version has a number of differences from the old version. The "Reply" function is one of the most notable. If you wish to make a simple repy to an existing post, WITHOUT quoting anyone in it, you have two options: At the BOTTOM of each page there are two buttons: Fast Reply, and Add Reply. Fast Reply opens an abbreviated version of the Post Editor, where you make make a quick entry on that same page. Many of the features of the Full Post Editor are there, but some are not. Add Reply opens the Full Post Editor, and changes pages doing so. Within the Full Editor, there are a LOT of new features which allow you to color, italicize, bold, change font style and font size, etc, and a number of other editing options. You are encouraged to "play" with the Full Post Editor to discover how these features work. Use the TEST POSTS forum if you wish, where posts won't increase your post count, and won't be offtopic. (In the upper right corner of the Full Post Editor box is a button that toggles between Standard Editing and Rick Text Editing. You can check the format of your post with this, and are encouraged to "play" with this as well, to see how it works.) If you wish to Quote one or more people, when reading a post, at the BOTTOM of any member's entry, there is a "Quote" button and a "Reply" button. Clicking the "Reply" button automatically quotes that ONE Member's entry and brings you to the Editor box where you may make a reply with the single quote embedded in your post. The Quote Button is for multi-quoting. To quote two or more people, click the Quote button for each person you wish to quote. Note that it turns a contrasting color so you can keep visual track. Then, at the bottom of the page, click ADD REPLY. (Clicking Fast Reply will not work, only Add Reply will work for multi-quote). You will be taken to the Full Post Editor, with each quoted member's text already in the edit box, for you to enter your text. You can add text between quotes if you wish. Check your post with the Preview Button. When you are satisfied, click the Post New Topic button, located at the bottom of the page next to the Preview Post button. That about wraps up this entry.Good Editing! 1
