ActionTekJackson Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Hey guys, this isn't really pyro related at all, but does anyone have any experience with EL compounds? As far as synthesizing? I'm doing a research project on making my own OLED Device, I have found one synth on it here but ruthenium compunds are rediculously expensive. I have access to chemicals I just need to find the cheapest synth as far as chemicals are concerned, but it still effective. Hope that makes sense.
Mumbles Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Ru(bpy)3 is the only material I have practical experience with. Made some OLEDs in my inorganic class. A similar proceedure to what you posted, but we had to prepare the Ru(bpy)3. Doped zinc sulfide is the only other one I know some basics about, and that is somewhat hard to work with I hear.
ActionTekJackson Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 Wow, yea... don't think the ZnS2 is going to work for me either... crap... I may have to break down (more like break the bank) and order the Ru chems. Have a look at the patent explaining some of the process for the ZnS2 EL compound.Zinc_Sulfide_EL.pdf
