If they are used, what kind of work have they done? have they been used professionally and are well worn? It'd be best to create a second topic in the Agora section. This is accessible from the APC home page. The Agora is where stuff is sold on this site. Add your pictures there and include pricing and other important info such as quantity available and shipping cost. Regards, AP

If the wood bung goes, just replace with a new one! Thanks for that ill post in Agora. Cheers. 1
AndyPyroNoob Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Hi Fellow Aussies! A newbie here. What is it looking like over here these days? A lot of links in this post appear to be dead. Anyone near Newcastle want to help out a newbie?
Ratman407 Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 Hi guys pretty new here as well Just wondering what woods people on the east coast have found for good fast black powder Thanks guys
stix Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 (edited) I've used Paulownia and have found it good for fast black powder. But I was only doing small amounts for testing purposes. I found it used in painting canvas frames at Officeworks. It's not very dense so the yield is low, but the upside is that it's easy to crush after cooking. Paulownia is probably expensive if you are making charcoal at larger quantities. Balsa is another good one for fast powder, but expensive as well. The other cheap option would be if you have a river not so far from you, you could have a look for Black Willow (Salix nigra). This link has pictures of what to look for:https://weeds.dpi.nsw.gov.au/Weeds/BlackWillow From what I have read, it's one of the best for fast BP. It's also considered a weed, so you would be doing us all a favour Edited January 27, 2022 by stix
Ratman407 Posted February 1, 2022 Posted February 1, 2022 Thanks for the tips mate will give it a go One another note has anybody found a good source for ferotitaium?
Arthur Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 The first tip available is to look through the literature on line (this forum is a good start but not the only place), then look at the materials that occur in your area and consider the cheaper ones. Willow is a common tree but buying hardwood willow plank from a timber specialist is OTT for price when by looking carefully some old willow prunings may be found for free. As with everything else look for a list of useful trees then chose a good one that is cheap http://www.wichitabuggywhip.com contains some interesting pages.
