Sulphur

In BP why shouold i use sulfur. I found recipes that don't need sulfurless. Are there any downsides. Slow burning, smoke etc.

Sulfur allows the BP to light easier, and produce more gas output. I find it burns somewhat faster as well. For me at least, good charcoal is my limited component, so the less I can use of it the better.
