Another pyro supplier?

Recommended Posts

Please forgive me if I'm stepping on anyone's toes by posting this, but I have a laboratory/scientific/chemical supply orientated business that I started up last year.

The business still has got a long way to go before becoming fully operational, but the groundwork is in place.

Needless to say I'm a bit hesitant to cater to the pyro hobbiests due to the CPSC being on the warpath or so I'm told. I was wondering if anyone could use another pyro chemical supplier?

So at the risk of being a newbie and this post coming off as unwanted advertising spam, I was wondering if anyone could use another pyro chemical supplier and if so, what sort of items would be in greatest demand?

That would be awesome. And I think (not trying to be a mod) this might be locked or moved but most likely moved to the suppliers thread.

An always popular item is KClO4. What will get you into trouble though is selling this as well as high mesh Al, Mg, or MG/Al powders. You would have to have one hell of an edge to compete though. Lower prices than some of the bigger companies could be hard for you to do. Its all a gamble, but at least you are seeing what is in demand first before opening up anything, which is smart on your end.

Honestly, being a new kid on the block there is no way I could compete with say skylighter or firefox prices.

However, it may get to the point where purchasing chemicals may come down to "if I can" and not "how much will it cost".

The CPSC has really kicked Firefox, Skylighter, and United Nuclear in the nuts... just read Firefox's website:

http://www.firefox-fx.com/

**Please read this before ordering.**

The judge has placed an injunction on our company, and the following applies to only customer WITHOUT a current Federal ATF license (if you have a license we must have a current copy on file before you order).

The following Oxidizers are restricted to 1 lb per year (1 lb total, not 1 lb of each):

AMMONIUM NITRATE POTASSIUM CHLORATE POTASSIUM NITRATE

POTASSIUM PERCHLORATE BARIUM NITRATE SODIUM CHLORATE

SODIUM NITRATE STRONTIUM NITRATE POTASSIUM PERMANGANATE

I'm not for how they let the courts hit them so hard on the oxidizers. Ammonium nitrate is available by the ton locally and potassium nitrate is an important fertilizer as well. Potassium permanganate is sold as a greensand filter re-charger, and sodium chlorate is also an agricultual herbicide.

How the government is allowed to pick and choose which businesses it attacks is beyond me. I think there should be some sort of constitutional defense to the draconian Code Federal Regulations.

I am pretty sure they want to go after all the pyro suppliers, but without a commissioner the CPSC can't initiate new suits and actions.

From what I understand, they need a Quorum simply to take a piss, and there isn't one.

With luck, there won't be one for some time, either.....

Typical busybody Liberals: They think no Right is too important for someone ELSE to give up. Bastards.

Huh?

Your telling me that the CPSC does not have a commissioner at the present time?

I thought this guy was over it:

http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/bios/moore.html

He's a commissioner of the CPSC, There is only him and the acting Chairman (Nancy Nord, who was in the news last year ). It takes 3 commissioners to form a quorum, so all they can do is carry on "old business" not enact new rules. Pres. Bush nominated a new chairman, but no chance of him being confirmed by the Senate during the remainder of the Bush administration.

It will get worse for the pyro hobby after the next elections I fear.
