Primordial Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I turned 23 on the 18th. I used to frequent forums and play with fire quite a bit but got out of it for a while. I'm kinda getting back to it now though since I have fewer people and reasons to get me thrown in jail.
flying fish Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Oh, this is interesting. I noticed this near the top but the last post was in February. I guess Voting bumps the poll. I also find it amusing that I am easily in the upper half of the age demographic, and I'm only 22 . Then again, this poll does not take into account the fact that people age since they voted...(not a whole lot...but still...)
Seymour Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I'm 19. I made my first reloaded consumer device at age five, made my first "BP" when I was 12, Was regularly modifying consumer fireworks for the next three years before I got stuck into making fireworks properly. I am in the group that considers firework building a lifestyle rather than a hobby.
Richtee Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Half way to 90 here. Sigh. Been a pyro for a Looong time tho... just not practicing.
Flying dutchman Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Wow! lot's of adult's here,it's surpirsed me I'm 15,I begin for about 1,5 year of chemistry, then converted to a pyro I'm a very bit "kn3wl",I like to play with flash and HE,bye
Mumbles Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I might legally be an adult, but I'll never grow up.
Pyrohawk Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Amen brother I'm 19.... Been doing pyro since about 14. Proper since about 16 and did a lot until I was about 18. Now I do it when I find time but with college and working I don't seem to have much time or money anymore.
TheSidewinder Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Growing OLD is mandatory..... Growing UP is strictly optional. Thank God.
lostfido Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 44 years young and a rookie at constructing fireworks, but a whole bunch of years with consumer stuff. Cull
The-T Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 (edited) Im 15, and just started real pyro. Before that I was just modifying comsumer fireworks and made some things with sparklers, things like fountains and tryed to make a couple rockets. Edited August 12, 2008 by The-T
LGM Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Well, I'm 15 and have been into pyro for a year or so now. I started out as something of a kewl (I was more interested in the science of the booms, but still..). I realized how interesting pyrotechnics was and it just sucked me in.
Swede Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 46. Went through a kewl stage as a youth, came out intact. It is best to skip that stage entirely, and this forum is a good way to do that. The science behind display fireworks is vastly more interesting than making a stupid boom.
Richtee Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 (edited) The science behind display fireworks is vastly more interesting than making a stupid boom. I agree...intelligent booms are MUCH more fun ;{) Altho I have really enjoyed finally LEARNING about pyro in the true sense, and the construction and fabrication that go into it... I still claim an attraction to a salute or bottom shot. Sigh... maybe I'll never grow up! Edited August 18, 2008 by Richtee

They are also too easy, can be more dangerous, and in many cases, illegal. The real challenge lies in true display fireworks." If I was all alone in the world, like in a Stephen King book after the plague has killed everyone else, I'll admit I'd probably scrounge a few cases of demolition blocks or some other cool ordnance from an army base, and have a bit of fun. But in the reality of the here and now, the fallout (legal stuff and physical danger) is just too risky for me. Edited August 18, 2008 by Swede

My favorite 'boom' is a nice titanium chest thumper that goes off 150 feet in the air 3.1 seconds after the break, just as the whistles, farfalle, or serpents are burning out !
Yankie Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I am 15 turning 16 in a month. I started 6 months ago but did 3 months of research before I got my first kg of KNO3. Now I am making small shows, for my birthday I am getting chemicals to make colours
Swede Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 but did 3 months of research before I got my first kg of KNO3.Smart man! And it sounds like you have your parents' support and approval. That's the best way to do it. Keep their trust by doing things the right way. Remember, non-pyro parents like color, and they like quiet. A fountain may have the same chemical energy as a salute, it just delivers it over a longer period of time!
cplmac Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 35 for the time being, I plan on changing that.
bret Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 43, didn't realize so many young people were here, kind of makes me nervous.
