oskarchem Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Eh, No I'm the youngest member..I 'm turning 15 in a cople of months
pudidotdk Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 16 years old... 17 in October.I guess I could call myself the smallest pyro here. Only ~5 feet tall
WarezWally Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I am XX years old I don't like having another fact about me laying around for all to see, call me paranoid
TheSidewinder Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Well, well. Po was here. You've been scarce. And to whoever asked, I can change or add choices but can't edit the counts. I did the same thing as you and wanted to change it as well. A root Admin might be able to, but I doubt it. Too much work anyway.
whitefox77 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 31 (or will be soon enough to not matter)
Mumbles Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I have a way to edit them, but I wouldn't know what to put in if no ages are given/pmed to me. BTW, oskar is definatly not the youngest here. I know at least 3 or 4 younger. It's a bit weird to think that I was already getting into pyro when a few of the members here were born. Back in the day when I was a total kewl.
oskarchem Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Heh, weren't we all Kn3wls at the beggining here? Just going to make the biggest boom with the least work
Mumbles Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Luckily my kewl days were not well documented by the forums, just my memory and old bookmarks folder. Nor were they actually in practice at all. All theory, mindset, and reading. By the time I actually made it to the forums around 2000/2001, I somewhat knew what I was doing, and by late 2002 when I made it to the precursor of what is now APC, I was actually resonably intelligent. I was considered for modship within the year, which at that time was decided by member vote. I never actually made anything that would generally be considered "kewl". Flash has always scared me, so I've never made many salutes.
Pretty green flame Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Heh, weren't we all Kn3wls at the beggining here? Just going to make the biggest boom with the least work I don't exactly know what qualifies as a kewl in your mind but a small "Marble cannon", which was the first thing I made, doesn't exactly qualify as kewl stuff to me. Never made pipes, HE's, never blew up a mail box, never hurt any animals with explosives, Flash was not the first thing I made. Although I did make a BP salute(s) back in the day, but this can hardly be considered kewl stuff.
TheSidewinder Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Fortunately for me, I never had access to materials that could be turned into HE's. I was having too much fun taking apart and reassembling Class C fireworks into mega-devices when I was a child. One match would provide quite a bit of entertainment for us. Dad would have made sure I couldn't sit down for a week if he had caught me. It was only recently that I got "back" into Pyro in a formal (and safe!) manner and got well-hooked.
Mardec Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 I'll be 19 in April (same as Pretty Green Flame). I'm getting old, hahaha. I started pyro when I was 9 or 10. Yeah I started then too, really funny if you think of it. Breaking 2 firecrackers in half and putting a lit third cracker in it and running while expecting something like a nuclear explosion.. sweet
Miech Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 I'm running on 19. That means I've been playing with fire for almost 15 years now.
_Po_ Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Well, well. Po was here. You've been scarce. I've been returning more and more often lately. Can't get rid of an addiction that easily. Mardec, I didn't get commercial fireworks until I was about 15. But I remember playing with the little crackers, taping three together with a match up the middle of them to make triple-banger-match-crackers! Hahaha, so innocent... I was talking to another member on MSN not long ago about our first green mix and how it was the best thing EVER despite the huge failure. I remember the day I got my first 500g of KNO3. Dad said not to let any flames near it or it'd all go up. I was very disappointed when it seemed inert to my testing and young mind, hahaha. I made "black powder" with fish tank carbon (it was so hard I used a hammer to powder it, haha) and some laxative sulfur from the pharmacy. I use a teaspoon to measure the ingredients out and I was excited and terrified to light it. When it just sizzled a bit I was disappointed, but I perfected it slowly until it was real BP. This was before we had internet, so everything was from books that really didn't help. Those were the best times, constantly experimenting until I discovered something new and amazing. Then I made rockets out of touch paper (KNO3 soaked newspaper). Don't ask how, because I bet I couldn't do it if I tried today.
KAP Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I will be turning 45 in March, I am getting older and a slower pyro because of it. Maybe that is a good thing. All I know is firecrackers are sad today when compared to 30 years ago. I did a side by side comparison for fun for the younger generation. I have also figured out girls can be pyros to, my 9 year old daughter loves pyro.
KinneticEnergy Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 I just turned 15 in Nov. My 13 Yr old brother is somewhat of a pyro, he's more of a k3wl tho . Seeing as it's my chems, I will most likely be held responsible for anything dangerous he does, even without my consent .

Get a box and lock the chems inside, DOH!And beat the crap out of your bro if he tries to get his hands on them.
KinneticEnergy Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Get a box and lock the chems inside, DOH!And beat the crap out of your bro if he tries to get his hands on them.Yeah well, my bro owns (half) of the mill & arbor press... I started pyro long before he did, and when I started making BP with a makeshift mortar & pestle he started to ask if he could try grinding up some BP for me. So I let him try it, and by then he was hooked. Every chem I've bought has been with my own money so far, but now I've made an agreement with him. We both pay for the equipment, and both get a semi-fair share of the stuff(but i have to approve of the stuff being built first). Well he has started doing a lot behind my back now, and much of it is quite dangerous! I always try to keep the launches small, like 3/8" id on the rockets and such. And therefore waste less BP, and it isn't too loud. I tell him only to use the slow BP, because he wants to build 3/4" and 1" ones. And of course there's the equation for the amount of increased ratio of propellant compared to the amount of casing that i try tell tell him about. His response is " I don't need a lecture". So he claims all of the BP as being fully accessible to him, otherwise, he won't help fund anything.
TheSidewinder Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 I think it's time you read Little Bro the riot act. If he's doing shit behind your back that you KNOW about, you can bet he's trying stuff you DON'T know about. And I have to ask, your parents DO know about your hobby don't they? If not, you're only headed for trouble. And you can bet Little Bro will snitch to them the first time you tell him he can't do something with "his" chems. And if they don't know about it, start making a plan of action with respect to your parents. Now. Oh, additionally, I agree with PGF: For NOW, at least, lock up your chems! He may own half the mill and press, but without the chems all he can do is imagine using them.
KinneticEnergy Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 My parents know fairly well of my "hobby" sidewinder(It's more of a lifestyle/addiction if you ask me ). Btw, check your messages folder.
due559 Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 First post! I'm only 14, turning 15 in 7 months. I have been doing pyro for a few months, but before that I researched a lot on the subject before attempting anything like BP.

TheSidewinder Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 LOL@Kinnetic.... Sucks to have a snotty little brother, doesn't it. Somehow, though, you have to get the folks on your side. Good luck with that.
poisonkiller Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I'm 14 too. Took me ages to figure out, how to use KNO3/NaNO3 and KCl to make KNO3. Still, the only thing keeping me back from pyro is money.
KinneticEnergy Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Money is one of the biggest problems for pyros, us young ones in particular. The best thing you can do is find a steady job, whether it be mowing the lawn, or working at a grocery store. Unless your parents are able to fund you, a source of income is almost mandatory. Point blank, your allowance (if you even get any) is most likely not going to cut it.
due559 Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Hopefully i could get a work permit by the time I'm 15. Where i live theres this place that helps u get a permit and a job that hires people of a younger age
