artificier Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 big nozzle make sometime beautifull effect like one of my fountain :http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/6168/fountain3ug.jpg
PsychoChem Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 The Nozzle was 1/2" and the tube was 1". I thought the mixture would be faster burning than it ended up being (should have milled it) and I didn't burn a test pile of it until after I assembled the fountain (stupid). It was probably under oxidized because I threw in the extra charcoal chunks. Frank it might have clogged but I did put the larger tube of fast meal powder at the bottom hoping for that effect. Maybe not the tube blowing off that base like it did but that just made it cooler .
artificier Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 i will put new video about my firework fountain : http://media.putfile.com/0304584 http://media.putfile.com/0304585
weknowpyro Posted May 22, 2006 Author Posted May 22, 2006 There alright but i think it would alot better with a small nozzle and maybe if they lasted longer.
artificier Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 yes its possible, but my device is made out of plastic and the nozzle melt by the heat.
d4j0n Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 artifacer, what composition did you use in the bottle cap fountains? How did you put it together? Wet the composition?
artificier Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 i buy 2 pound of gold sparklers composition and i use few gramm to fill the bottle cap.I found the idea with the rat bastard method.
artificier Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 No not really,i will put other material like Al foil around the sparklers fuse to support combustion. Its old video of my fountain, I will make lot of cheapass fountain like this, sometime i fill the bottle cap with BP/sparklers comp 50/50,he make a nice ground mine. (pic coming soon )
joe609 Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Why dont you make a kraft paper tube and use some Bp/Al or other mix in it. It will last longer and you can get them really good height.
artificier Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Yeah its a good idea i will try next week but how is the size of the nozzle ?
Von Bass` Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 usually I make mine with 1/3 size of the ID e.g. 9 mm id --> 3mm id
artificier Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 hey good new i try to make my new device ! one of paper casing and the other made of plastic ! my powder :http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=5/14621534434.jpg&s=f5 filling :http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=5/14621545427.jpg&s=f5 device with the plastic casing :http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=5/14621555983.jpg&s=f5 the effect :http://media.putfile.com/bottle-cap-sparklers-fountains device with the paper casing :http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=5/14622001775.jpg&s=f5 the effect :http://media.putfile.com/paper-casing-sparklers-fountain the powder in the device is in not pressed form just granular.
weknowpyro Posted May 28, 2006 Author Posted May 28, 2006 So your using the sparkler to set off some sparkler powder?Thats kinda of cheating lol and also when do you no the fountain has started when the fuse is gonna have the same effect as the mixture inside.
artificier Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 yes i using just sparkler on the video is nitrate based sparkler.not very powerfull.most of the time i buy perchlorate based sparklers, its more powerfull but less beautifull.
kwstag Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 This doesn't belong in here, nor anywhere on the site really. All your doing is crushing up sparklers basically, and those fountains are horrible. I mean good work for trying something new, Indeed.. But yes, that is cheating.
FrKoNaLeaSh1010 Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Although they are sad attempts at fountains....I remember making bottle cap sparkler fountains myself back in the day when I first started. They actually did work kinda good if you knew what you were doing....everyone starts somewhere so stop flaming him...offer some advice instead.
kwstag Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 I wasn't exactly flaming, just stating.. And I did give some positive renforcement as well.
kwstag Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 See. Waterfall is a lot better. Still cheating But it takes a lot more work. Do you make your sparklers into a paste with water? Like.. Sparlker powder and not chunks? Enlighten me
Mumbles Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Didn't you see the pictures? He just tosses granules broken off the wire into the soda caps. If one ground it up, and actually made a solid pellet, maybe it would actually preform like a fountain. Well, at least for the first 1/3 of a second while the plastic isn't molten.
d4j0n Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Looks better than whatever's possible for me right now...as in no low mesh metal powders and only newspaper charcoal.
kwstag Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 I wasn't asking about the fountain, but rather how he makes waterfalls from it. Or maybe a shit waterfal by just hanging it upside down? I'm just used to more of a professional layout for waterfalls.
FrKoNaLeaSh1010 Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 O I did not see the before pics as my internet was slow that day. Even before I found the online pyro forums and was experimenting with estes rockets and sparkler powder I had crushed up the sparkler powder at least...idk I did get a quick 2-3foot spray of sparks for a couple seconds until the hole burned too big when it was powdered with a couple chunks left in and used in these bottle cap fountains. Looked more like a gerb of some sort though due to quickness.
artificier Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 its a good idea to make fine sparklers powder and mixed with water and pour in a tube. i will try this idea next week
