Wyvern Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I hear the best flash is made from 2 parts Bentonite clay to 5 parts sodium chloride, needs a hot fuse to ignite
Pretty green flame Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I hear the best flash is made from 2 parts Bentonite clay to 5 parts sodium chloride, needs a hot fuse to ignite Awesome, and I got everything I need in my chem cabinet, watch it neighbors mail box, here I come
hst45 Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 You can also substitute sodium bicarbonate for the sodium chloride, but for the love of God be careful with that stuff!
pudidotdk Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I could not get mine to ignite, what am I doing wrong? I tried with both bicarbonate and chloride. I wanna blow up my neighbour's house so badly!
flying fish Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 You can also substitute sodium bicarbonate for the sodium chloride, but for the love of God be careful with that stuff! I believe that mixture can be sped up further by adding "generous amounts" of lampblack and then granulating it through a window screen with water or alcohol.
Pretty green flame Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 For the love of god, don't forget to add a couple % of binder or else your granules will turn to dust.
TheSidewinder Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 In case it hasn't dawned on you yet, BombinRaimen, questions like the one you posed identify you as a "kewl". And the people here are, for the most part, SERIOUS Hobby Pyrotechnicians or Chemists who don't wish to be identified with that sort of person. Discussion of Flash, outside of the HE forum, is prohibited. I am not a moderator, but I've been here long enough to KNOW that what I just said is chapter and verse from the rules. I *DO* have the authority to lock you out of further posting until an Admin decides to unlock it, but I won't do that unless you break another rule. If you have a serious desire to learn from this site, READ EVERYTHING YOU CAN here about Safety, Chemistry, etc. I'm guessing a moderator or Admin (Mumbles, Al, etc) will either lock this or delete it outright, however. Mumbles Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I don't know if I would go as far as to say that discussion of flash outside of the HE section is strictly forbidden. It's a bit difficult to carry on intelligent discussions of aerial shells without flash coming up at one point or another in relation to bursts. In general discussion of flash in relation to stand-alone salute devices is generally frowned upon though. He hasn't outright voiced his intentions, so I won't condemn him just yet, but I obviously have some ideas. Since I am going to be locking this very shortly, I may as well give you some advice in your questions. As far as the chemicals, do some searching on your own. There is a supplier review section here that would be helpful I would imagine. I know of very few people who will want to help an inexperienced new member in finding both perchlorate and dark Aluminum. H3 is not even close to flash in several ways. I'd leave it up to you reading on your own to discover these though. Please for your sake, avoid the use of chlorates. Now, I hope you find the time to do plenty of reading in the near future. Continual questions about flash powder, "recipies", and how to get the components to make flash will make reading a whole lot easier as you will be banned from here. I don't like to do it, but is a rather last resort for individuals who show no true interest in the hobby or art and just want to make booms. locked.
