sparky Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 does anybody here belong to passfire i was wondering if it is worth the price to join
pudidotdk Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Every passfire member - like myself - will tell you the same:It's definitly worth it! 40$ sounds like a lot to join, but what you'll get is more information than you can get anywhere for the same amount of money. Passfire has a lot of nice tutorials with good pictures (although a little small) and also a big formula database and a nice forum with persons with experience that will gladly help you. Post #300!
TheSidewinder Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Best money you can spend, in my opinion. M
tentacles Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Definitely worth the $40 - and it's based on 12 issues, not 12 months (as it may seem). For example, the last issue of articles was like, May. Kyle has been very busy with other obligations lately, so there hasn't been a new issue this summer. There is still a TON of info on there, and there is actually more than what shows in the article list. Everyone on passfire is a mature, serious pyro enthusiast and there is tons of great discussion and info.
qwezxc12 Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 If you want to learn how to make can shells, there is no better series of easy to understand tutorials out there, plus pasting and spiking basics, ball mill designs and calculators, autopsies of commercial shells, and...well you get the idea. I'll second the notion...it's the best $40 you'll ever spend. I learned more in three weeks reading there than I did in many months of scouring the 'net.
psyco_1322 Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Its deffinatly worth your money. And the forum are very active, more active than APC. Sad to say. They also have a section were they show commercial things that have been cut open to see how it was prooduced. The data base is full of formula for about anything. Dont ask if you get a membership, just go do it. Trust me, you wont regret it.
Phildo Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 You can get free access for a week or 2 to see what's available. It only took me a couple of hours to make up my mind.
jacob Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I just got a passfire membership and all that info is overwhelming, deffinatly worth it. i can't stop playing with the shell simulator .
Phildo Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Kind of like the first time you discovered porno on the web. The big difference is I can call my wife in to watch.
Bonny Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 just waiting for my payment to clear.Had the trial membership and it's definately an awesome site.
Guest Mark_the_pyro Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Yep, it is a great site, tons of info. Never mind me, who was childish enough to post their content.
cplmac Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Passfire is top drawer. I've been there for almost a year and I think I've seen two issues, your membership dues are gonna go a LOT longer than a year, probabbly closer to three or four. Excellent forums, marketplace, archives and some tools that are excellent like the loading pressure calculator.
WarezWally Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Some of the people there are f**king nuts to be honest, especially the shit some people are dishing out on the person who leaked the archive. With my small taste i don't really like what i see - hostility seems to be a big thing. Nobody over there really understands how the internet works too
Phildo Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 A man works hard to put together and maintain the most referenced website dedicated to pyrotechnics ever, and someone steals his efforts. The efforts of Kyle were not leaked, they were stolen. Hostile? Would you be laughing if you came home to see your car sitting in your neighbor's drive with a sign that says "Drive me for free"?
tentacles Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Wally, stealing from people who make explosives is quite likely to result in an explosive reaction. ;P A leak would be the inquirer telling us all the details of intel's new chip 6 months early. That wouldn't tell us how to make one - this was a case of theft, and the thief locked his keys in the getaway car. You can't even justify it to yourself by saying he was charging too much for the subscriptions - it's cheap! I don't think they were too hard on him, but I do think too many people dogpiled onto it, and it turned into a shit flinging competition.
Guest Mark_the_pyro Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Members of passfire VS members of roguesci . I think that is what stopped it from turning into something much larger, and all the members could do at passfire was flail their arms and call me bad names. And realize tentacles, all Passfire is, is information collected from a few books. Oh snap did I just say that?

The guy was a dead set idiot as when he leaked it it was filled with his details and he was linking people to it with his username. To make matters worse for himself he admitted to copying and distributing the archive. The passfire guy is talking about suing him but that would have been a road to nowhere if he kept his mouth shut. Ive seen the archive and there is nothing there that isnt already out there in various books and websites. The tools are nothing special as anyone with half a brain and a piece of paper could design them with no trouble. The best thing would have to be the the pretty sketchup drawings and autopsys. Best thing would be the forums where deals go down but expect to be flamed if your selling stuff that people deem 'expensive'.
Guest Mark_the_pyro Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Shutup Wally, you don't know the full story. And to everyone else, believe me, you will find out soon how I am repaying the community.
frogy Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 A man works hard to put together and maintain the most referenced website dedicated to pyrotechnics ever, and someone steals his efforts. The efforts of Kyle were not leaked, they were stolen. Hostile? Would you be laughing if you came home to see your car sitting in your neighbor's drive with a sign that says "Drive me for free"? Well you could try to use that as an analogy... But thats not really true... It would be more like your neighbor renting you car, cloning it, and then giving the clones away to people.... Yes, there is a full story... Mark I know you know what you did was bad, so that's good enough for me... Can't wait to you start releasing what you're working on... and remember if you need any help I'm just a pm away...
Mumbles Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Guys, fucking drop the whole passfire archive circulation thing. I don't want to hear about it. I already had to read 50 posts about it on the passfire forums. Despite the fact that with real software it doesn't cause as much of a nuisance, I still don't want to have to read about it.
