1" salute with dragon eggs

I would like to make some 1" (cylindrical) salute shells containing dragon eggs. I have some of this KClO4 prime:

Name: veline style

Source: pax

Potassium Perchlorate 62

Charcoal Airfloat 22

Magnalium, granular, -200 mesh 7

Dextrin 4

Aluminum, flake, dark, American dark. -325 mesh 3

Copper(II) Oxide, black 2

If I use this prime on the dragon eggs, can I use granulated H3 as burst? Although there is no sulfur in the prime, I've read that chlorate shouldn't be mixed with CuO,Al,or Magnalium. I am also considering using granulated BP with some 70/30 flash, but would like to use up the H3 as I don't want it sitting around.

I don't see anything wrong with that. Especially since the prime would be a hard coating over the eggs. It should be fine with the h3 burst.

Why dont you want the H3 sitting around? Is the charcoal contaminated with sulfur?

That's what I'll do then.

Just trying to clean up some comps before winter. I plan on doing a small "show" next weekend, and it might be my last for awhile. Usually have snow and cold here for about 6 months a year.

The granulated H3 gives a nice loud report, and saves me using my precious KClO4.

I'll try and film some shells, plan on firing 20 or 30 1" shells with different effects.

Just to finish this off...Fired 2 shells filled with dragon eggs and granulated H3. Eggs were primed with prime mentioned above, but failed to light.

Maybe the H3 did not allow enough heat to build up before bursting the shell??

In future I'll probably just use granulated BP or maybe some BP coated vermiculite.

Did you use any green meal over that prime? If not you should have. The prime needs it's own prime.

No, just used them with the perc prime. They worked that way out of a mine, but not in the shells. I'll add the meal next time for sure. I have used that prime with and without meal powder on veline stars, and no blind stars though.
