Edd
Hey,I'm new to this forum and relatively new to pyrotechnics. I've just been researching the 'net about this stuff with basically all of my free time over the last few months. Without getting into specifics, my family and I will be moving to Australia for the next few years. If there are any Australians, could you post where you get your chemicals? So far I know that Sulphur can be found at Bunnings, Thrifty Link or BigW and Charcoal can be found at Bunnings or Coles.Having trouble finding KNO3 though... aquaman
I don't live in Australia, but if you can't find plain KNO3, try looking for it in stump removers (there should be a warning on it like "cotains potassium nitrate") at a store in the fertilizer section. Green Light and High Yield make stump removers but I don't know if it's sold where you live so just look for a stump remover with the warning. Mephistos Minion
Gday, I am an Aussie, I live in Tasmania. My KNO3 is purchased in bulk (25kilo) bags from an agricultural supplier. Things like HNO3 and other hard to get OTC stuff I purchace from a lab supplier. Bunnings is excellent for chems, you can get: Acetone, MEK, HCl, H2SO4, Xylene, Copper OxiChloride, Red Iron Oxide and all the resins, tapes, glues and putties one will need. Draco_Aster
Yah, I live in QLD. I got my KNO3 from in 25Kg also. I've never seen a stump remover containing it. Make sure you check that you sulfur is powdered, not in little grandules. I used to get my sulfur from the chemist but now ALL of them say they dont sell it to individuals, a pity because it was extremely fine. They also said I was being recorded from the security cameras, freaked my mum out!
maximusg
I have never purchased chemcials from the chemsit, they are always rediculously expensive, The manutec 500g packets have really fine sulfur, which i got from a nursery (The lady had to order it in). But then i found the manutec 2.5 Kg bags in the garden section of thrifty link hardware, im guessing they are both the same quality, as they are the same manufacturer, but the larger bag has more sandy granules then the smaller, however they both mill up nicely. maximusg
i get H2O2 in the form Of hydroponics nutrient OXYPLUS, its 50% and costs me $16 shipped. Po, you can't reccolect where you got the H2SO4 can you, if its concentrated that is.
_Po_
Local hardware shop. A litre of 1835g/L H2SO4 for...I can't remember, about $40. A lot of places don't stock it anymore, but me, living in shitsville, still thinking we're in the '50s, has got like 20 bottles on the shelf. I got my 50% H2O2 from a hydro place too. There's a generic Oxy Plus called Xtreme Liquid Oxygen (or something). I got a litre of this 50% Xtreme stuff for $20 (500ml bottles were $12...DUH!). Then the lid leaked in the car and to try and save the seats I caught a nice dribble of H2O2. We were on a highway and didn't have any water in the car so I flicked my hands out the window and spat on them to dilute the H2O2. White hands are pretty cool though... Mephistos Minion
Dude, I am fairly sure english is still a compulsory subject up to year 11 in Australia; so please edit your post with some full-stops once in a while. Good work on the HNO3 and AN though. And good luck finding KClO3.

Good work on the HNO3 and AN though. And good luck finding KClO3.or not. u must udnerstand that were not writing and essay so stick ur "please spell correctly with punctuation" up ur ass. i hate people like u From what i gathered, u can buy these in Sydney -Sulfur, Bunnings -500ml 50% h2o2, from some hydroponic stores. somne sell it for 10$ and some 30$ for the same product -KNO3 25kg $30, Elders at Dural -(Per)chlorate? u wish -Strontium, barium carbonates, Copper/iron Oxide from pottery store -Iron Oxide, Bunnings and mitre10 have them, mitre10 much more expensive - Acetone, same as above. mitre10 sells 500ml for 10 bux where u can get 5litres for 14$ from bunnings - Ammonium Nitrate 100grams from instant cold packs ($3) -HCL from bunnings is the Diggers brand and they only sell that brand and it has additives.. so get ur HCL from mitre10 -Sulfuric Acid - bunnings, mitre10 or any hardware shop dont sell them so dont bother, mo-flow doesnt exist anymore here so go to ur local Auto-shop and they have 1litre 40% battery acid for 6 bux. 70% HNO3 and AN/kno3 by 25kg can be bought from http://www.duralite.com.auhell, im not even sure if they still sell to the general public, they did back in 2002 but after all the shit been going around lately. Mephistos Minion
Actually it is in the forum rules (rule 6 see bottom of post) that correct spelling and punctuation are to be used. It is also more polite as it makes your post easier for others to read. Slack is cut for those who do not use english as their primary language, but in Australia, english is the national language therefore use it correctly. For you two who obviously have not read the rules here is ruke 6: 6. Use proper English. Capitalize the beginning of sentences, use correct punctuation, use full words (“you,” not “u,” “two/too/to,”, not “2,” and so on). The most important thing is that it can be read and understood. If you take the extra 2 minutes to look over your post, you can save yourself a warning or two. Hint: Run your post through a word editor's spelling check and it will catch almost everything, except maybe chemical formulas and mistakes in nomenclature. Perfect grammar is not necessary. As long as your post is readable, and it isn’t an eye sore to read due to lack of one of the above fields, there is a good chance you will remain warningless due to english skills. maximusg
Dude, i aggree with MM, you are comming off as an arse when you bag people for suggesting that you use propper grammar. This isn't an AIM chat room, or a Harry Potter forum. Be cool, follow the rules. It's quite annoying trying to read posts like that, not to mention dangerous in this context.
