superspike23 Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 hi all.in the following formule,can i replace strontium by lithium?pot chlorate 70strontium carb 15red gum 10charcoal 1dextrin 4
aquaman Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 You probably can. But I think the strontium will make a better red color than the lithium. I'm not sure, so experiment. Just test to make sure it doesn't make it more sensitive even though I doubt that it will. Better to be safe than sorry. Make a lot of smaller batches and use the formula. Then try different amounts of the Li2CO3 to see if it works better. If they all look like crap then I would say that you can't substitute the Li2CO3 in that formula. Or maybe you can name it crappy red.
superspike23 Posted July 9, 2007 Author Posted July 9, 2007 http://www.scienceamusante.net/wiki/images/7/75/Flammes_colorees.jpg in second position a flame coloured with lithium. In third position a flame coloured with strontium. I also put myself the question about a sensitivity of the mixture.
psyco_1322 Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Lithium makes for a deeper red color than strontium but im not sure how it will work in a star comp.
