Darkonez Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Hi all. I never thought it would happen but it has! Three very nice polite officers one which was knowledgeable in chemistry and explosives came to visit this morning. No problems everything is stored safely away in appropriate containers no large amounts of any mixed together and definitely no thermite! Which was one of their original concerns??? A bit crazy as even the officers were aware any school kid could make it from tinfoil and rusty bolts lol. Only advice given was to inform local fire brigade of my hobby in the event of a fire and funny colors coming out might be misleading! Very polite knew their stuff and left without any issues. For those that don’t know I’m from the south east of England! 1
ThunderEx Posted April 8 Posted April 8 England? I thought anything remotely dangerous was banned there? So you are allowed to make fireworks as a hobby?
johnnypyro Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Was that for Acquire and Keep licence? A few years ago that was all done by civilians usually ex officiers. After Plymouth firearms etc is now done by the police. Did you need to pay a fee?

You’re allowed 100g of BP at any one time. So small scale stuff only. The law is a bit fuzzy about whether BP in a constructed firework counts towards the 100g

They came to check me out due to either triggering alarm bells by purchases I’ve made or a concerned citizen, they said they didn’t know the source just had to check me out. and as you stated above the law is confusing but I work with what I believe to be within it. They took pictures and video of my area for making and storing items so they may come back with further advice or worse case telling me something is outside the law for the uk. I’m not looking to break any laws just for a hobby so I’m sure if there are any issues I can work around them or obtain relevant licenses etc, which is something I’m looking into anyhow.
