Question regarding copper for stars

I have availability to some copper scraps and was wondering if it can be abrasively removed into a powder or drilled to produce the byproduct shavings. Then, mix it into a star comp

Copper, I've read, can produce blue flames, though I do not have copper chloride or copper carbonate, just plain copper

If this is worth trying, I will incorporate it into my ariel shells.

Eh..the metal is of kinda limited use. But at the price of copper, sell 25 pounds and you can buy the better forms of it

In those countries where there are retail pyro chemical suppliers buy the chemicals from a known good supplier. If a chemical is not available then look for a way round  that absence.

In places where there is no retail supplier then you have to try to substitute chems from available sources, or do DIY manufacture.

As a beginner it's unsafe to make random substitutions as there are some incompatibilities to avoid. Sometimes it's necessary to make your own chems but that adds extra risk and hazards to the hobby which you need to control carefully. Any experiments should start really small to minimise any harm.

Is there any use at all for copper shavings and byproduct at all ?
