I'm looking for a cutter to make the petal form that's formed into hemis. Does anyone have a shareable sketch or dwg file or can anyone advise where to get it please?

Does anyone have real world experience of making hemis?

I just can't get what really you mean the term" PETAL".

Are you taking about pre cutted circular piece of hemisphere which is later fixed to hemisphere once shell loading is done?

The shape of the paper that's used to form the hemi, yes I know it's different for each size, any size would be a start.

If you are looking for loading of shell using the method shown below and if you need cutted circular piece of same hemisphere which is fixed at the end of shell loading then you may refere second link.

First link loading of shell-

Second link cutting hemisphere and circular piece of same hemisphere -

In this link they only have showed hemisphere cutting at exact center position, for circular disk you change position of slider which holds paper ball to desire lengthy so that it reaches to marking from where disk cut is needed.

Position of cutter blade should be right angle to paper ball.

He is look for the snowflake shape paper that gets glued and laminated and pressed into a mold to form a hemi.

I have been looking for the same thing today, my intent was to cut out a bunch with my laser.

At around 6 minutes.

I have seen that one, if the pattern was scale down it would probably work better. He gets a lot of wrinkles I think.

Zumber, are you using the method of pasting around a former and cutting it after drying? I considered that also but I think this would take a lot of time per set? At least to make a number of small 2 and 3", or a lot of formers.

If you already have the male/female moulds for pressing them. Should be pretty easy to pattern them. You're essentially just removing the pleats you don't want. And, you don't have to pattern the full 360°, just 90°.

I use commercial pvc hemisphere for shells It is available upto 8 inch size beyond that I occasionally make bigger shell.

I have made round former for 10 inch, though it consumes a lot of time I only prepare 3 or 4 such shell occasionally.

Pressing strawbord petals into hollow hemisphere mould is the fastest way IMHO.
