Telefunken Posted September 21 Posted September 21 (edited) If anyone wants to try my pink composition this is the baseline recipe. You may need to adjust or add things to get the pink color and effect you’re happy with. I have some more variations of this comp with metal fuels but that’s fairly easy to figure out. Telefunken’s Rosa #1 65% KClO4 8% Sr(NO3)2 22% Cocoa powder 5% Dextrin Wet with 75% water 25% isopropyl alcohol. Can be rolled, pumped or cut. I cannot tell you anything about long term storage other than I’ve not had any issues after drying. Not sure if it’s been done already and published but thank you to @ozarkpyro and @solar for helping out with it. It’s a fairly simple way to achieve a nice pink. Do not eat it Edited September 21 by Telefunken Typo
Crazy Swede Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Sounds like an unnecessary expensive formula! Maybe used ground coffee beans can be a cheaper substitute after drying and further milling! 😅 1

This was mostly just a proof of concept and a silly one at that. It does have nice characteristics, you should give it a try when you're bored, its kind of neat. 😅

cmjlab Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I can get cocoa at Walmart for $3.84 per 8 oz (~$7.90 per 16 oz or a pound). A typical pink like Chris's Pink, or NX Pink, has Saran / Mg/Al / Red Gum or Phenolic Resin at approx 10 / 12 / 10 parts (not including the copper oxide in Chris Pink). Saran is $20.00 / pound, Mg/Al close to that, Red Gum is $11.00, amd Phenolic is $8.00, and Copper oxide is $11.00. I don't think the above formula is expensive at all. I haven't tried it either, and I do agree Chris Pink andnNX Pink are bit great colors (though I prefer chlorate formulas myself) so i don't know how great the color is, but im game to try when I get the chance. 1

Yup! i can get it for around $1.85 per 8oz container, I've tried 3 different cheap brands with no noticeable difference in the color.
Zumber Posted September 22 Posted September 22 (edited) what is role of cocoa powder here? as a organic fuel? (C7H8N4O2) Edited September 22 by Zumber 1

(C7H8N4O2) Yes mostly as an organic fuel, the strontium to fuel ratio can be adjusted for different strengths of the color. I mostly did this due to not have a chlorine donor in stock at the time. I now mostly use very fine sawdust for this comp since it is free. I have moved away from this comp and have been working with violet stars and AP free pink strobe.
