Thanks for the encouragement. I've taken a lot of inspiration from this site. The tiger tail is a really big effect for the size of star and it helps fill the sky a bit as they are very brief effects. This one is with Jopetes fuchsia #1. I'm now looking for two effect that go well together. TT + fuchsia 1.mov
Darkonez Posted January 22 Posted January 22 You seem to be getting some nice colors, I’m working on mine at the moment among a dozen other things.
johnnypyro Posted January 25 Author Posted January 25 This is Ttger tail (0.88) with #100 Ti (0.12) comet. GX010200.mp4 It worked as I hoped so I put it in with Buell green: GX010201.mp4
ThunderEx Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Cool. I know everything is already really tiny, but would it be possible to make the stars say half the size to fit more? The effect will not last long of course, but will be more "full", if that make sense?
johnnypyro Posted January 26 Author Posted January 26 Yes - you read my mind! The MgAl in Buell green makes it burn brighter and quicker and the stars have to be a bit bigger to get any kind of duration. I'm going to try an organic star: Shimizu's `green. From what I've read it's a slow burner so hopefully the stars can be cut smaller - they're so small already - and then I can pack a few more in the bombette. 1
Mumbles Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Just a trick I wanted to pass on. If you need something longer lasting look into colored flare, lance, or bengal fire compositions. They may not be perfect "out of the box" in terms of composition, but it will give you some insight into the difference in formulation, and can provide a guide on the right way to approach compositions you're trying to modify to slow down. Off hand, I believe they tend to be pretty heavy on the colorant (whether it's the oxidizer/nitrate/chlorate or additive/carbonate). This tends to make fairly saturated colors as well, as the colorant is heavier than normal. 2 1
