Soloserly Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 I've seen a couple articles saying that China is limiting export of Antimony, and they provide the bulk of the world's supply. I don't use trisulfide much anymore but it makes me wonder if things like antimony-hardened lead for ball mills are about to get much more expensive.
Richtee Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Invest in brass once. Cleaner and ONLY once.
davidh Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 (edited) You can always pick up the pure(ish) metal for $20 a pound. You can buy the lead alloy here too. https://www.rotometals.com/antimony/ Edited September 5, 2024 by davidh typo

cmjlab Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Are antimony metal (used to harden lead), and antimony trisulfide (used in glitter / pyro comps) the same thing? Which is used in solar panels? Thanks.
Soloserly Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 They are not the same thing, but antimony trisulfide can't be synthesized without antimony. Both are used in solar cells; antimony trisufide is used in the back surface layer and antimony is used to clarify the glass and to improve thermal stability.
