Rogue Chemist Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Seriously Mumbles, that scared me how accurate it was for me. "I think the main issue with pyros, is that they are too nice and causes stuff move to friendship to quickly."Amen
justanotherpyro Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Hell I lucked out. I Changed schools for my senior year, and met a girl who was shy and never got serious with any of the guys she knew. We started dating, and 7 months later many guys are jealous because I'm dating a fox.
Mumbles Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Seriously Mumbles, that scared me how accurate it was for me. "I think the main issue with pyros, is that they are too nice and causes stuff move to friendship to quickly."Amen Yep, it is so weird how it fits for so many of us. After I started talking to Haggis, and we got more into our personal lives, I swear he was reading my mind half the time. Looks like I have some more people to add to the ever growing list. I think it is up to about decuplets. All right around the same age too. It is just too weird to be a coincidence. There must be something either in our personalities that draws us to our hobbies, or something about the hobby and community that causes the similar social interactions. This seems to be mostly prevalent in the 17-18-19-20 age range with people into both pyro and amatuer chemistry.
d4j0n Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I resent the remark about coasties. I think if people got to know more nor-cal people, they'd have a different opinion. I'm a coastie myself, but the only people I can pin those descriptions to are the so-cal hick types. But then again I guess I'm a little hyppocritical since I'm going UC San Diego... I guess I'm no true pyro then...I'm gonna be majoring in comp-sci/comp engineering.
dragonman586 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Damn it that huge reply was so damn accurate Mumbles. I think that pyro should be like a zodiac sign or something. haha and you could be like the Mrs. Cleo of it. Since it's the venting room. God DAMN I Hate these retarded people with nice cars that can't drive for shit! They drive stupidly slow and can't even manage to take a turn. While I'm in my mom's minivan smoking the shit out of everybody. I want a nice car but then financial crap plays in and I am stuck with the minivan until I hit my career.
Pretty green flame Posted May 4, 2006 Author Posted May 4, 2006 Bah.....i've been downloading songs down from lime wire for 4 hours now and every song i've downloaded up to this moment is total SHIT. Does anyone make music that doesn't go "ohhhh yeahh" or "ohhh baby" IT pisses me off, todays music get's worse by the day. And the worse part is that my favorite radio station stoped playing dance music and insted of that they play all kinds of other shit like those fucking boy bands, britney and others. Most of them sound like they were castrated or as if they're beeing strangled. And every day there's a new group that can't even sing and they think they're good. And they only song they have is screaming about some chick and how they love her, go jerk yourself off. I HATE THEM!!!!!! I miss the good ol days , where's my dance music
optimus Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Think yourself lucky you don't listen to classic metal - almost every single new metal band is shamefully bad. Makes me feel ashamed to tell people I enjoy listening to metal. Don't know much about dance music, but I enjoy a little Leftfield now and again... ever listen to them?
dragonman586 Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 I'm Sooooo fucking pissed. All my friends have some amount of money so they have some decent to nice cars. And I am pushing around my minivan. (moms) and now I am temporarily left with no transport because my mom fried it.
Rogue Chemist Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Uranium dust, mercury vapour, or to quit.... https://sciencemadness.org/talk/viewthread.php?tid=5731
Zeppelin Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 At least you can drive, and your parents can lend you a car.
Pyrohawk Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 I'm Sooooo fucking pissed. All my friends have some amount of money so they have some decent to nice cars. And I am pushing around my minivan. (moms) and now I am temporarily left with no transport because my mom fried it. Ya its kinda the same for me....all my buddies drive nicer vehicles it seems. My friends cars are.... a black 6spd Chevrolet Camaro (this thing is beautiful I might add not an old junky one), a blue dodge stealth (also nice), a Ford F350 pickup truck (very nice), a Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck (very nice, almost new), and lots of other nice trucks which cost far more than mine. Trucks are more common here than cars I might add.My one friend who owns the Camaro, owns 4 vehicles. I drive a decent truck but its nothing fancy.... its a Ford F150 pickup truck.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/pyr.../ntruckside.jpg
Boomer Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 That SMDB link is password protected. But thats not the reason for venting. As some might know, I tried getting sodium nitrite in like 20 places, from a chem supply over drug stores to butchers and pharmacies. All refused to sell it, while I kept explaning I wanted nitIte, not nitrAte - NOT for black powder but for sausages! Now last weekend I found a pharmacy that ordered it, after my usual rant about nitrIte-not-saltpeter. Yesterday I fetched it and at home (!) read the bottle: "Kalium nitricum crystallinum - Kalium Nitrate" I'd like to give it back, melted with sugar, fuse burning ....
weknowpyro Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 I'm sick and tired of the british media saying that fireworks are bad. Atleast if they are going to say this they could come up with better excuses, have alook at this paragraph from this BBC article-Four years ago, neo-Nazi nail bomber David Copeland used gunpowder from fireworks to build the bomb he detonated in the Admiral Duncan pub in London's Soho and the blasts he set off in Brixton and Brick Lane. ok let me get this striaght he detonated gunpowder? and if i remeber correctly i think he injuryed about 2 people.Just because some nut case goes around shooting off stuff at cars does not mean there needs to be a strict ban on stuff i.e britains has the strictiest gun laws in the world all because one guy goes nuts the media turn it around that its everybody. This is the most stupid article you could see the BBC published-Rockets the size of footballs and air bombs sold as "a 64-shot Saddam Hussein's dream come true" are being sold on the black market. Now come on i know saddam is an idiot but i don't even think a terrorist would buy a multi shot cake turn its side and start shooting people with it.
Spoony Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Chavs/Thugs have also contributed to the strict laws. The main reason bottle rockets and "air bombs" were banned was because of them being fired at people. I even read 3 chavs tied bottlerockets to a few month old puppy and lit the fuses. I fucking hate chavs.
PyroPicasso Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Am I the only one that finds it kind of sad to see European youth embracing and mimicking a culture of a people that their ancestors dominated, and a culture to which they are better than? Chavs and wiggers are the product of multiculturalism so how can anyone say that it is a good thing for society?
Pyrohawk Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Well I'm pretty mad right now... I am supposed to be camping right now... We got back there and set up camp when a storm rolled in. We knew it was calling for one but figured we might get lucky or it might not last long.... It was a crazy storm, serious lightning and heavy winds..... Our tent wasn't staked and it blew away so we had to track it down! It just kept pouring down so we left and went home.... School is out which depresses me. I know its odd but I like school There are classes that I hate and some teachers I don't like and who likes homework? But the whole thing I actually like. Now summers here and I never see any of my frineds except for the close ones all summer. On the subject of my friends.... they all piss me off!! Well I have one friend who I can count on and we hang out all the time. But all the rest are getting to be assholes... They leave us out of stuff and don't invite us.... Or they ignore us when we do come! So basically this summer is gonna suck because I can't see anyone and my friends are on my nerves. Just wanted to get that out.
Mumbles Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Yep sounds about right. We got that same storm last night. Lost a few good sized branches, the street flooded. If my car wasn't in the driveway, it may have been floating down the street. It didn't last all that long, maybe 45 min, but those were an intense 45 min.
Mephistos Minion Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Pyrohawk, you and I are in a simmilar situation. The group of people I consider my friends quite often do things that I am not a part of, inspite of the fact that they are things I am very interested in. It dosen't bother me that much, but it makes me wonder whether or not I am considered as their friend to them.
creepinghorseman Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 http://www.komotv.com/stories/43624.htm Every year around this time we see these stories, and every time it pisses me off. That's a local news story from my area and a classic example of how horrible the media is regarding fireworks. I can't stand it when they call something like dynamite or TNT a firework. It sounds like it could be flash as well, but even then they are calling flash dynamite and it's still incorrect. Either way they need to get their facts straight, start reporting the truth, and stop their jihad against the Fourth of July and fireworks.
weknowpyro Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Its typical of the media twisting storys around so its not a firecracker its a stick of dynamite its not a stupid person its an average joe playing with it.Its the same for all media to get people scared.
Frozentech Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 http://www.komotv.com/stories/43624.htm You're right, the way the story is written is BS. However, that story sort of bugs me for another reason. That story exactly fits the profile of a guy named Brian who posts on rec.pyrotechnics about stupid stuff he does. He is a construction worker with a drinking problem who makes big salutes and lights them off in most inappropriate ways, and lives right around that area. If you follow rec.pyro at all, you know who I am talking about.
Mumbles Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Yeah, that is a bit eerie. In a way he kind of had it coming due to his irresponsibility and stupid acts. On the other hand, it is never good to see stuff like this. It just gives the CSPC more fuel. If they can trace the chemicals back to firefox, they're fucked. If it truely is him, I feel the saddest part is that he injured others in the process. That is totally unacceptable to me.
creepinghorseman Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Here is another local news station's report of the same incident (KING 5) and a far better one if I do say so myself. There is no mentioning of dynamite or fireworks in their story so that really helps show how the other station embellished it to make it Fourth of July related.(Has to be copied and pasted due to registration on web site). ------------------------------------------------------------------ By CHRIS DANIELS / KING 5 News NAPAVINE, Wash. - Three men were injured after an explosives accident in the town of Napavine, just south of Chehalis, overnight Thursday. Lewis County police alcohol played a part in the late night accident at a campground. "A group of construction workers at a glass plant were having a barbecue and had some sort of improvised device of some sort," said Gordon Spanski, Lewis County Undersheriff. Investigators believe the men put a homemade explosive device into the barbecue to light the fuse. "They had fused this and lit the fuse. Apparently to them the fuse looked like it had gone out, so they reached down into the fire to relight it. At which point, as another one reached in there, it exploded and went off" said Spanski. One man lost his hand, the other had his hand blown off and other injuries, while the third suffered fractures to his face. “I don't know if I'd call it illegal. It wasn't very bright,” said Spanski. “It appears right now there was no intent to harm anyone, but when you have alcohol and explosive devices working together, you don't have a very good outcome." Two of the men, both 41, were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center, while the third was rushed to a hospital in Centralia. Both of their conditions were unknown. No one else was injured in the blast.
