Yankie Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I am so sick of places not shipping overseas, all I want is 5lb of Saran, the places that do reply to their emails dont ship over seas and the places that ship overseas never reply to their emails. One replied but when I asked for an invoice never replied again. I am sick of people not sendng me invoices, I am still waiting on a few ceramics stores to send me an invoice. Why are people so stupid and not send me the information I need to give them money, have they all gone bonking mad! On That note does anyone know a place that will send Saran to the land of Australia and reply to their emails?

I'll ship the stuff. I'll order what you want and ship it out. You pay cost + shipping, and 5 bux to get my van to do the running.
Mumbles Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Ok, seriously, stop posting when you have nothing constructive to add. [edit] You know mormanman, deleting your posts doesn't make it seem like it never happened.

Yankie Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Why would that be though, its nothing out of the ordinary name@hotmail.com...unless theres some filter on my emails stopping me getting pyro stuff, but if there was someone would have payed me a visit as I have sent my adress out so many times. I am so sick of it though...

[edit] You know mormanman, deleting your posts doesn't make it seem like it never happened. Can I do this post and delete thing to get 4 tiny squares in my little thingy area? I would really feel like a good yacker when I do get that far. This is starting to remind me of the petty games people play at work! God I'm glad this is the venting room. I just may have to get a job pasting shells, it'll be me, the paste, and lots of strips of paper! Paper doesn't talk back does it???????????????? Edited October 4, 2008 by marks265
flying fish Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 (edited) 40 degrees F outside. I think it might be close to the end of pyro season for me . It's not THAT cold yet, but for some reason I feel like it is about to start snowing! I quit for the winters for two reasons...one because it's damn cold and my workshop has no heating. Two because it is dry and I don't want to die (or invest in humidifiers for that matter). Also, work has been a bitch the last few days. I spent 9 HOURS today trying to fix our production spreadsheet that nobody bothered to keep properly updated while I was gone...and then when they realized it was broken/ not up to date, guess who they called on? And then I forgot my Microsoft excell common sense and accidentally screwed a couple more things up myself. Me and my boss sat down at the end of the day and figured it out though. I'm looking forward to monday, when I officially start work on an optical trapping project. I will be using an "optical conveyor" to separate erythrocytes from platelets. Kind of like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WafKhYmGe1Q except with real blood. The microbeads represent the erythrocytes, which can be trapped and conveyed into a single channel while the platelets flow into all channels at a junction. Edited October 4, 2008 by flying fish
Swede Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 FF, rejoice and be glad you have a job that you find interesting. My job pays well but is so boring, I am going insane. Blessed are those who pursue what they love (like so many of us do) and find that the love increases over time rather than abates. Wow, I sound like a preacher man today! It does suck you cannot do pyro stuff due to the chill and low RH. Can you set up a little station somewhere, where you can do some experimentation? Obviously it'd be a bad idea to paste up some 10" shells in your home, but a small work area would allow you to try some different star comps and other materials, working on a scale that would not be dangerous.
flying fish Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 (edited) Yeah, I might work on some things that can be done in extremely small batches...especially Ammonium Perchorate color star formulae...and possibly the Senko Hanabi sparkler formulae...Of course, I still have to go outside to see how they look...But I can manage the cold for a few seconds! As for work...I do actually enjoy it quite a bit once I get my bearings and get going on a project...And I do consider myself lucky when considering that most of my friends hate their jobs (of course, many of them are making more money than me...but only because they work for large companies that can afford it...compared to the 10 person start-up company I am working for). The work is often tedious but it is also interesting. Like the trapping setup...I've heard from the people who have worked on it before, that I will probably curse a lot just trying to find the cells moving through the microfluidic chip and bringing them into focus. But that's the kind of work I enjoy...just messing around with something seemingly endlessly until it finally works...Heck, that is the story of my life. I'm not THAT good at fixing things, but I will just keep going at it until I either get it working, or until I get sufficiently frustrated and throw the damn TV, airsoft gun, or other broken object out the window. Fortunately for the trapping apparatus, it is bolted to an isolation bench which is too heavy for me to pick up and throw out the window! Edited October 4, 2008 by flying fish 1
Gunzway Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 To anyone curious if I had let my star mine off or not, I did as of Friday I think. I looked down the river and up, nobody was fishing. Great!, It was low tide so a strip of sand was there. I shot it, it was a good one, unfortunately it wasn't recorded from the start. I walk 15 meters downwards and someone is fishing... and I looked down near the bay, about 10 others are fishing. Aw well, they didn't looked pissed off or anything. I still would of preferred to have seen them beforehand. But at least it got rid of it sitting around my workshop.
Pretty green flame Posted November 5, 2008 Author Posted November 5, 2008 The fucking SOB from the DMV gave ma failing grade on my drivers licence road test, due to a few MINOR mistakes, I hate the fat son of a bitch!

I'll come over and kick his ass for you. I gotta get outta this country before Inauguration Day... sigh.
Swede Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Hang onto your guns, boys... they'll be coming for them soon, along with any gold or diamonds lying about... for redistribution, of course. I am not happy with the election. I suspect I'm in the minority here for those living in the U.S.A. Obama is a popular fellow, but to me he appears to be all style, no substance. Will he snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in Iraq? Stay tuned.
Brakkie Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Victory in Iraq? hmm... could you explain me when you heard that news? For all I know the war in Iraq is FAR from being over... I'm not an American but I'm happy with Obama as president. It's time for a major change in the US and I don't believe that the republicans will be able to change. On another note, I got a Law exam tomorow and damn, I can't even concentrate for more than 10 minutes. It's time to *blow* off some steam lol
TheSidewinder Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 I wasn't happy with EITHER party's candidate. It remains to be seen how Obama will do, but the fact that the Democrats now have a "supermajority" worries me. Especially if he gets a "filibuster-proof" Senate, which looks to be very likely. And we'll see just how much success he has getting guns away from people. It'll be a cold day in hell...... He seems to be a Socialist in Bipartisan clothing. Time will tell.
Swede Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Artistic, peace is breaking out all over Iraq. Al Quaeda in Iraq is on the run, their leaders dead or captured. The influx of "foreign fighters" is falling. In the month of October, not a single U.S. death in Baghdad. It is winding down, on all fronts, the pace of operations is falling off, and casualties are plummeting. Hopefully the nation of Iraq will be left with a peaceful, moderate, secular government rather than a bloodbath of a civil war, provoked by Iranians and Syrians, ending with Sharia law, beheadings, and burquas.
oskarchem Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Soo... I just learned that the French aviation authorities DEMAND us to change the distress boxes in our planes; to explain what they are, they're small orange boxes which activate if a plane crashes, and alert the authorities. The only problem is that they cost 6000E for a permanent box, and 1.500E for a portable one. The club has 4 planes to equip... 4*1.500=6000E . I have no bloody idea where the club is gonna find the money. And I just hope that the planes won't be grounded if they don't have the new ones... Sometimes the different authorities just make so ridiculous demands... And then I must of slept like 3hours last night, and I have a BIG history exam tomorrow, I guess I should go and brew some coffee.
TheSidewinder Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 That sucks! We call them ELT's in the USA. And I seem to recall a similar change being mandated here, too, though I'm not certain if or when that has to occur. And our own FAA (Federal Aviation Authority) has its head up its ass most of the time, too.
oskarchem Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Yeah, they're called ELT's here as well. I just looked on a catalog. I fear what is going to happen to my friends aeroclub, they've got 10+ planes. It's gonna be a black end of the year...
WarezWally Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Just received my $50 laser module from HK, it made it through customs (technically it's not prohibited but I can easily see a customs worker confiscating my package aptly labeled red laser) and suprise surprise its DOA Pissed off
Pretty green flame Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 Grrrr....I had an idea on my mind, and the next second it was gone, now I can't remember what I was thinking about, damn
Yankie Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Grrrr....I had an idea on my mind, and the next second it was gone, now I can't remember what I was thinking about, damn Doesn't that shit you to tears, the worst thing though is when you think you will remember it. I think to myself, should I write that down? Nah I will remember.... never do. AGGH why are chlorine donors so hard to get for a reasonable price, well, at least a reasonable shipping price, its a killer, All I need is 4lb of chlorine donor and I can make up to 10kg of various coloured stars.
Swede Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 **&*^&*&*&^ Damnit. I ordered three pounds of potassium metabisulfite from Midwest brew supply. Box arrives. What do I see? Three pounds of frigging potassium sorbate. WTF am I going to do with 3 lb of sorbate? Why can't people do their job and pack their orders properly? GRRRRRRRRRRR!
Mumbles Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 You could make 1600 gallons of wine. Or if you have a taste for pillaging, you could make an equal amount of Mead.
