BigTFrank Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Basically I have tried a couple different methods to secure the wick onto the body of the M-80, but the fuse sometimes goes out. I want to know if I need to switch the fuse I am using which is a "Red Falling Leaves Fuse" from pyrobuild. It doesn't have the best reviews so I am not sure if it is the fuse, or the way I secure it in. I put a drip of hot glue on the fuse itself then stick the fuse into the hole on the side of the M-80 so it gets a nice even look without any sloppy glue splatters around the fuse hole. The other way I do it which seems to work fine is inserting the fuse first, then drawing an outline with hot glue around the fuse, but it comes off much dirtier and just doesn't look as good as the other way I described. Thanks! 1
ThrownBiscuit Posted June 19 Posted June 19 My advice would be don't make m-80s. They are illegal to make without the correct licensing. I suspect that this topic will be locked after a mod comes across it. Falling leaves fuse is an effect fuse, use it in small aerial shell headers not as ignition sources.

I am a store owner with the correct licensing and have registered my devices with the ATF, they are not illegal and I am asking for help from someone in a similar situation, not someone manufacturing them illegally.
AustralianPyromaniac Posted June 21 Posted June 21 A few small drops of PVA or EVA (bookbinding glue) and drying overnight should work. The EVA has much less water that normal school glue and dries quicker which will decrease the chance of water getting into the fuse. Both will look very neat as the glue dries clear and level. Why are you not using visco? I am not sure the water resistance of falling leaf fuse, I would guess it to be similar to visco. If water gets into the powder grain you would have issues.
All10Fingers Posted June 21 Posted June 21 I agree with him, your using the wrong fuse. Look for visco, cannon, or safety in the name. That been said, I "allegedly" fuse mine through the end. I cut a long strip of cardboard from a cereal box and smear wood glue along one side. Then I roll the strip around the fuse till it makes a plug that fits snug into the "alleged" device. Then another drop of glue on top to make sure everything is sealed right.
Kalifireworks Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Falling leaves "fuse" is to create falling leave shells, mines or whatever, not for using as fuse
